DURKEE CEMETERY
On Sunday, October 10th, 2004, I decided to stop at a house
on Route 7, Conneaut, OH.
The house was near the Center Road intersection and atop a hill that overlooks
the old Farnham Bridge and the creek below.
The gentleman that now owns the property greeted me and was eager to show me
around the cemetery that is located on his land. He was a very pleasant
person to talk to. I am sure that if I wanted to spend more time there
looking for stones that he would have obliged me as he told me that if I wanted
to come back again, it would be perfectly alright.
I am sorry that I didn't write down his name but with his permission, I will get
it at a later date.
The cemetery is in pretty good shape considering that it is
overgrown with tree saplings.
The ground is covered with Myrtle which helps keep the weeds down. The
cemetery has been fenced in to keep the cows out but the land leading to it has
been trampled by cows and is a bit hard to walk on. One must be very
careful not to sprain an ankle or fall.
