CONNEAUT - Robert W. McFadden, 78, of Harbor Street, died Friday, Sept. 21, 
2001, at St. Vincent Health Center, Erie, Pa.  
 
He was born Feb. 18, 1923, in Conneaut, to Joseph and Ethel Pearl (Merriman) 
McFadden. He lived 10 years in California, and spent the rest of his life in 
Conneaut. He married Jean M. Specht April 23, 1960.  
 
Mr. McFadden served with the U.S. Army Airborne during World War II. He worked 
for the Nickel Plate Railroad 10 years, was a security guard for Conneaut 
Township Park, and retired as a Community Action van driver. He was a member of 
American Legion Cowle Post 151, Disabled American Veterans of Ashtabula and 
Company C 137th Armor. He was a Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed painting, 
collecting photographs, bowling and horseshoes. Survivors include his wife; 
daughters Dolores Wolf, Diana Urch, Kathleen Ely, Karen L. McFadden and Sandra 
Lane of Conneaut, Ella Williams of Ashtabula and Christine Tomko of Geneva; sons 
Robert S. and William J. of Conneaut, and Danny M. of Niles; sisters Alice 
Blanar and Ida Clemens of Conneaut, Margaret Stallacher of Lorain, Arvina 
Anthony of Geneva and Betty Jane McFadden of Cleveland; 33 grandchildren and 28 
great-grandchildren.  
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Joseph, Francis and Charles, 
sisters Catherine Steinhoff and Dorothy Watson, granddaughter Elizabeth Ann 
Tomko, and great-grandchildren Courtney, Christopher and Samuel Horwood and 
Tiffany Gregory. 
 
Funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 
Liberty St., Conneaut, officiated by the Rev. Raymond Thomas of St. Mary and St. 
Frances Cabrini churches.  Burial is in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North 
Kingsville. 
 
Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial 
donations may be made to the family. Envelopes available at the funeral home.
