GENEVA — Sandra L. Summers, 55 of Geneva, Ohio died Friday morning at Ashtabula
County Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Funeral arrangements are
incomplete and will be announced by the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center,
208 Liberty Street, Conneaut.

AARON C. DREW
CONNEAUT — AARON CARL DREW, 21, of Conneaut, died at his home on
Saturday.
Born on January 6, 1983, Aaron was the son of Carl and Sharon (Shuster) Drew and
was a 2001 graduate of Edgewood High School. He was employed for the past 1 1/2
years at the Save-A-Lot Warehouse in Austinburg. His goal in life was to produce
movies. A gifted musician, Aaron was the lead singer in the band Pulse, and also
enjoyed writing poetry and music, as well as collecting various items.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa (Draper) Drew; a daughter Caidence; his parents
of Kingsville; two sisters Erika (Teddy) Owens of Conneaut, and Sarah
(Robbie) Jamison of Snyder, Texas, and his brother Lars Drew of Ashtabula. Also
surviving are his in-laws Randy and Lucinda Draper of Conneaut, and
brothers-in-law Travis Draper of Fort Carson, Colorado, and Eric Draper of
Conneaut. Aunts and uncles surviving include Kathyrine (Shuster) Miller,
JoAnne Shuster (Howard) Seavey, Lance (Debbie) Drew, Rick (Becky) Drew, Alan
(Jenny) Drew, Dennis (Rachel) Drew, and Dale and Gary Drew. Aaron was preceded
in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at the Marcy
Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with the
Rev. Charles Graham, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 5 to 7
PM, Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at the funeral home. It is requested that memorial
contributions be given to the family.

DON R. JENSKY
ASHTABULA — Don Richard Jensky, age 78, of Amherst Circle, died Monday January
3, 2005, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born July 22, 1926 in Marinette, WI, he was the son of Arthur and Matie (Zander)
Jensky.
Don graduated in 1944 from Boystown High School, Omaha, NE, where he played
football and sung in the Boys Town Choir.
A Veteran of the U. S. Navy during W.W.II, he served on the U.S. St. Louis in
the Pacific before being honorably discharged.
Don continued his love of sailing on the Great Lakes, going to work for Thomas
Wilson Marine Transit Steinbrenner & Kinsman Lines for 35 years as a 2nd
Assistant Engineer before retiring in 1984.
Don showed soft-coated Wheaton Terrier dogs for 10 years through Honey
Lee-Kennels in Jefferson. He was an avid sports fan of the Green Bay Packers
Football Team & Cleveland Indians Baseball Team. He bowled for several years at
Kings Lanes in North Kingsville with the Seniors, winning the Seniors Champs
Jackets from 1990-1998.
Don was a member and a trustee of First Presbyterian Church in Ashtabula for 42
years, where he was very active in church functions.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth (O’Leary), whom he married at Munger
Presbyterian Church in Munger, MI on January 6, 1962; niece, Julie (Jack)
Shoblasky of Oshkosh, WI; nephew, Ross (Dawn) Behrendt of Marinette, WI; three
grandnieces; two grandnephews; three great-grandnephews; and uncle, Edwin
(Betty) Zander of Marinette, WI.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Matie Pederson; step-father, Adolph
Pederson; father, Arthur Jensky; and step-mother, Marie Jensky and sister,
Phyllis (Roger) Behrendt.
Service will be Friday, January 7, 2005, at 12 p.m., noon, at First Presbyterian
Church, 4317 Park Avenue, Ashtabula, OH, with Reverend Dr. Stephen R. Long
officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North
Kingsville, OH.
Calling Hours will be Thursday, January 6, 2005, from 7 to 9 p.m. at DUCRO

NELLIE L. RIFFLE
ASHTABULA — Nellie Louise Riffle, age 81, formerly of South Ridge West, died
Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at Country Club Retirement Center.
She was born December 23, 1923 in Beachgrove, IN, the daughter of Claude and Ada
(Ferguson) Davis and had been an area resident most of her life.
A graduate of Ashtabula High School, Mrs. Riffle was a production worker for
Inland Container for 27 years prior to her retirement.
She was a member of Prospect Presbyterian Church.
Her survivors include two sons, James R. and Michael B., both of Ashtabula;
three grandchildren, Jaime Bigham, Michael Riffle, and Charity Riffle; one
great-grandson; and three brothers, Tom Davis of Louisiana, Bob Davis of
Alabama, and Bill Davis of Conneaut.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James David “Jim” Riffle; one brother,
Claude Davis; and her parents.
A Service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2005, at the ZABACK-DUCRO
FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, OH. The Reverend Arvid
Whitmore, Pastor of Prospect Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Entombment
will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum, North Kingsville.

RUBY E. GILLUM
COLUMBIANA – Ruby E. Gillum, 91 of Columbiana, Ohio and a former Creek Rd.,
Kingsville resident, died Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at Salem Community
Hospital.
Mrs. Gillum lived in Kingsville until 1990. She was born in Cumberland
County, Illinois on July 1, 1913 a daughter of the late William H. and Cora M.
(Sherman) Stewart.
A homemaker, Mrs. Gillum was an active member of the Amboy United Methodist
Church and it’s Happy Oldsters, Loyal Bereans and Sunday School Class.
While in Columbiana she attended the East Fairfield United Methodist Church and
its Beacon Light Class. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking for family and
friends. Mrs. Gillum was also a member of Rose Chapter #22, Order of Eastern
Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan E. (Wayne) Cope of Columbia and Carolyn
A. (George) Puffer of West End, North Carolina and a son Arnol Thomas Gillum of
Mansfield, Ohio. There are seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren also
surviving.
Mrs. Gillum was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Arnol F. on April
3, 1984; seven sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND
CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty Street, Conneaut. The Rev. Gina Kim of
Amboy UMC and Rev. Mitchael Hennessey of East Fairfield UMC will officiate with
Rose Chapter #22 OES will conduct services also.
Burial will follow the service in Greenlawn Memory Gardens. Calling hours
will be on hour prior to the service and the family requests memorial
contributions be given to either of the churches.

J. BILLER
ASHTABULA – Richard J. Biller, 78, of Ashtabula, died Tuesday morning, January
4, 2005 at University Hospital in Cleveland.
He was born Aug. 22, 1926 in Cleveland and was the son of James and Martha
Biller.
Mr. Biller lived most of his life in Ashtabula and worked as a carpenter for
both Cleveland and Ashtabula local unions. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in
WWII, and was assigned to the Merchant Marines. He was a member of Local 95,
V.F.W. of Ashtabula, East Ashtabula Club and St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.
He enjoyed model cars, doing most anything with his hands, and especially
spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter, Jackie (Ron) Kosenko of Geneva; two sons, James
R. (Nancy) of Monroe Twp., and Dale J. of Ashtabula; his fiancée, Sonya
Loll; four grandchildren, Richard (Jenny) and Joel (Gina) Biller, Pete Kosenko
and Chris Harmon; two great grandchildren, Jared and Kyle Biller and two
step-great grandchildren, Samantha and Greg Bones.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Charles Biller.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8 at St. Mary Catholic Church,
480 State St., Conneaut with the Rev. Raymond Thomas, pastor of St. Mary
and St. Frances Cabrini Churches, officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Conneaut.

DONALD J. CAMPBELL
CONNEAUT – Donald J. Campbell, age 81 of Conneaut, died early
Tuesday morning, January 4, 2005 at Inn Conneaut Health Center.
He was born in Albion, PA on Sept. 22, 1923, the son of the late Donald S. and
Ruth (English) Campbell.
Donald retired from the Nickel Plate Railroad and had worked with the Merchant
Marines. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of the
Conneaut Moose Lodge and was a Lifetime Member of the Ashtabula, Ohio
Merchant Marine Veterans Association.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Ring.
Donald is survived by his wife, Helen (Dodson) Campbell and three sons: Kenneth
M. Campbell of Sun City, California, James Donald Campbell of Reno, Nevada and
Donald Campbell of South Carolina. He is survived by a daughter by a daughter,
Kathleen Campbell and a step-son Leonard LaRue of Roland, Arkansas.
He is also survived by 2 sisters: Helen Holloway of Cleveland and Alice Jean
Marz of Concord, California and 2 brothers: Howard Campbell of Conneaut
and Walter G. of Tucson, Arizona. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren.
A Life Celebration Service will be held at Inn Conneaut Health Center at
a time to be announced. Please call the Center for details.

OWEN W. ROGERS
ASHTABULA — Owen W. Rogers, age 83, of Carterland Drive, Ashtabula, OH, died
Tuesday, December 21, 2004, in the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born in New Waterford, OH, on November 4, 1921, the son of the late Archie J.
and Maude (Booth) Rogers, he had resided in Conneaut most of his life
except for the past four years when he moved to Ashtabula.
Mr. Rogers owned Rogers Jewelry Store in Conneaut until he retired in
1982.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ashtabula. Owen was a member of
the National Rifle Association and was an avid gun collector and dealer. He was
a member of the Gemologists Society of America.
He loved the outdoors, wildlife, and working with tractors. He also enjoyed
traveling with his wife, Ruth, and spending his winters in Sebring, FL. Owen was
a kind and caring man who always saw good in everyone.
He was a Veteran of World War II and served with the U. S. Army Air Force where
he was an airplane engine mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Davis) Rogers, who he married October 21,
2000; a daughter, Julie (Joe) Lowe of Sebring, FL; two sons, Larry (Peggy)
Rogers of Scottsdale, AZ and Richard (Joanne) Rogers of Kingsville; one sister,
Ardeth Ballard of Holt, MI; a brother-in-law, Paul Angle of Lavale, MD; a
stepson, Ronald (Pat) Davis of Roaming Shores, OH; a stepdaughter, Sharon (Dick)
Troth of Rocheport, MO; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four
step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary; a son,
Donald; and two sisters, Frances Whitehead and Thelma Angle.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2005, at 3 p.m. at the
First Baptist Church in Ashtabula, with the Reverend Douglas Wright officiating.
Interment will be made Saturday, January 8, 2005, at 12 p.m., noon, in
Greenlawn Memory Gardens where Full Military Rites will be conducted by the
V.F.W. of Geneva.
The family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church or the
Diabetes Foundation. Envelopes will be available at THE THOMPSON-SMITH FUNERAL

CHARLES L. ABBOTT
LENOX – Charles L. Abbott, 75, Lenox-New Lyme Road, Lenox Township, died
Thursday evening, January 6, 2005 at the Austinburg Nursing & Rehabilitation
Center following a brief illness. He had been a patient there the past week.
He was born January 31, 1929 in Jefferson, the son of Lucius and Elsie (Rose)
Abbott and has lived in the Jefferson area all of his life. Mr. Abbott was a
veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a 48-year employee of Stone Container, retiring
in 1996.
He enjoyed fishing, woodcrafts and spending time with his grandson.
He is survived by his former wife, Dorothy Abbott; two children, Tina R. Cash of
Jefferson and Jeffrey Abbott of Port St. Lucie, Florida; a grandson, Kevin A.
Beebe of Jefferson; a brother, Harry Abbott of Andover and two sisters, Alice
Kellogg of Geneva and Edith Pawlowski of Orwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Earl Abbott and three
sisters, Ruth Hanson, Jessie Weddle and Charlotte Garibotti.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10 at the FLEMING FUNERAL HOME,
INC., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Kevin Angel of the Jefferson
Church of the Nazarene officiating.

ASHTABULA – Pearl G. (Tennant) Headley, 83, formerly of Granger Road died
Friday, January 7, 2005 at Park Haven Home.
She was born February 5, 1921 in Lima, West Virginia, the daughter of Elisha
Birkett and Clarissa (Dillon) Tennant and had been an Ashtabula resident most of
her life.
She especially enjoyed her family, crafts, and cooking.
Her survivors include two children, Patricia Felt and Ross Headley, both of
Ashtabula; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence G. Headley, whom she married
Dec. 6, 1937; one daughter, T. June Morse; six brothers; five sisters; and her
parents.
A private family service will be held. Rev. Mark Berg, Pastor of Zion Lutheran
Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.

CONNEAUT — Judy Ann Colangelo, age 60, of West Bloomfield, MI, died Tuesday,
January 4, 2005, at Huron Valley Hospital in Commerce, Michigan.
Mrs. Colangelo is survived by her husband, Joseph Colangelo; two sons, Michael
and Cathy Colangelo, Joseph and Jeni Colangelo; and a daughter, Lee and Celine
Corbett; granddaughter, Mia Rose Colangelo; and two sisters, Karen Newman and
Cindy McDonald.
Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2005, 11 a.m. at St.
Joseph Cemetery, Conneaut, with Fr. Raymond Thomas, of St. Mary and St.
Frances, officiating.

WILLIAM REITH
CONNEAUT — William Reith, age 85 of Conneaut, died Saturday,
January 8, 2005 at the Erie Veteran's Hospital in Erie, PA. Mr. Reith was born
June 14, 1919 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of William H. and Jessie (White) Reith.
He graduated from Connelly Trade School in Pittsburgh, and worked in all phases
of the automobile trade. He married his wife, Betty (Jodie) Culbertson on April
2, 1949 in Clairton, PA.
After working in Pittsburgh for a number of years, he moved his family to
Conneaut in 1961. He worked for Geneva Ford, Cummins Chrysler and Bob Hill
Sales and Service in Kingsville, as Parts Manager, for 12 years before
his retirement in 1981.
Mr. Reith was a veteran of World War II, serving the United States Army as a T5
until his was honorably discharged in December of 1945. He was a member of the
American Legion and St. Mary Church, in Conneaut. In his retirement he
enjoyed going to and having garage sales, he also loved spending time helping
his granddchildren and children. He was known as "Mr. Fixit" in his
neighborhood.
He was preceded in death by is parents; two daughters, Cindy J. Peters and Vicki
L. Gustafson; a daughter-in-law, Diane M. Reith; and a grandson, Michael Joseph
Jury.
He is survived by his wife, Jodie Reith of 55 years; a son William R. Reith and
wife Phyllis of Kansas City, MO; a daughter, Lori J. Jury and husband Kevin of
Conneaut; as well as 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at 10:00
a.m. at St. Mary Church, in Conneaut, with Father Raymond Thomas
officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, where American Legion
Cowle Post 151 Honor Squadron will conduct full military rites.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 10, 2005 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at

JOSEPH J. KACZOROWSKI
CONNEAUT — Joseph J. Kaczorowski, age 84 of Conneaut died early Saturday
morning, January 8, 2005, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital, Conneaut.
Joseph was born November 5, 1920 in Conneaut the son of Ignacy and Teofila (Murawski)
Kaczorowski. He graduated from St. Mary School and Conneaut High School.
He sailed on the Great Lakes with the Cleveland Cliff Iron Ore Company, and
later worked in the maintanence department at the former Nickle Plate Railroad
and retired from the Norfolk and Western Railroad in 1980.
Joe enjoyed golfing years ago and was an avid reader. He also enjoyed fishing
and visiting friends at the nursing home. He was the caregiver of his parents
and liked to watch EWTN television. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Roman
Catholic Church.
Joseph is survived by his sister, Victoria Truppo of Conneaut; two
brothers, Benjamin and Matthew Kaczorowski both of Conneaut; and several
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Cecilia Marmone; and a
brother, Adam Kaczorowski.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 10, 2005 from 12:30 p.m. until
1:30 p.m. at the RAISIAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut,
Ohio.

NORTH KINGSVILLE – Opal Delores Booth, 73, of Poore Road died Monday,
January 10, 2005 at Harrington House. She was born April 5, 1931 in Queens, WV,
the daughter of Carl and Icy (Osburn) Newlon and had been a North
Kingsville resident since 1955.
A member of the Amboy United Methodist Church, enjoyed country western music,
knitting, and loved her outdoor fish pond and spending time with her family.
Her survivors include her husband of 57 years, Don Booth; two children, Sandie
(Eric) Dent of Cheyenne, WY and Jeffrey (Mary) Booth of N. Kingsville;
four grandchildren, Amber Schluck and Erica Dent, both of Cheyenne, WY, Anthony
“A.J.” Booth of Lakewood, and Brittany Booth of N. Kingsville; and one
great-grandchild, Mackenzie Schluck of Cheyenne, WY.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Vera Newlon; and her parents.
A service will be held 11AM on Thursday, January 13, 2005 at the Amboy United
Methodist Church, 554 West Main Road, Conneaut. Pastor Gina Kim will

KENNETH B. SYLVESTER
KINGSVILLE – Kenneth B. Sylvester, 63 of Route 84 Kingsville, died
unexpectedly on Sunday, January 9, 2005 at his home.
He was born July 1, 1941 in Cleveland the son of Edward and Joyce (Hilger)
Sylvester and has lived in the Ashtabula Co. area most of his life.
He was a 1961 graduate of Grand Valley High School.
He was employed with Reliance Electric from 1964 to 1972; he had also been
owner/operator of Sylvester Trucking until he was diagnosed with Juvenile
Diabetes in 1977; Ken then worked at Unison Transformer until their closing,
then worked at DIY Warehouse until an accident took his eyesight in 1996.
He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting and bowling in his younger years; listening to
books on tape and the radio; Ken loved the outdoors, tractors, chainsaws and
cutting wood. He enjoyed his special helper his grandson, Luke; being with all
his beloved grandchildren and taking care of his mother-in-law, Jeannette Frend
who resided with his wife and him.
Surviving him are his wife, Vicki (Frend) Sylvester, whom he married Oct. 5,
1963; two sons, Kenneth A. of Kingsville and Steven (Virginia) Sylvester of
Ashtabula; a daughter, Dawn (Mike) Lilja of Ashtabula; six grandchildren,
Morgan, Mason and Matt Lilja and Luke Sylvester, Elyssa Walker and Emily Martin;
two brothers, Edward of Jefferson and Ray of Amarillo, Texas; seven sisters:
Carolyn Adams of Arcadia, Florida, Judi Clem of San Diego, California, Shirley
Feko of Tennessee, Cathie Lange of Kentucky, Mary Feko of Illinois, April Dunbar
of Texas and Edith Boran of Roaming Shores and by a sister-in-law, Lorri
Sylvester of Texas; also by his special nephew, Scott Sylvester of Louisville,
Kentucky, who resided with Ken and Vicki when he was sixteen years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by three brothers, I. Dennis, Robert
and Gerald Sylvester.

ASHTABULA – Ronald Lee Wood, 58, of Hiawatha Ave. died Monday, January 10, 2005
at his home.
Born Feb. 2, 1946, in Ashtabula, he was the son of Gordon and Lila Jane (Turner)
Wood.
Ronald graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1965.
He was a Cleveland Indians and Browns fan; he coached Girls Softball & Little
League Baseball and was a Cub Scout Den Leader for Pack 41 in Jefferson. Ronald
loved his dog, Izzy.
Survivors include his wife Margaret (Krcal), whom he married September 23, 1967,
in Branchville, NJ ; daughter, Mandee Buehner of Madison; and son, Micah Wood of
Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be Thursday Jan. 13 at 12 p.m. (Noon) at DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES,

WILLIAM A. BURTT
DORSET – William A. Burtt, 74, a Dorset resident most of his life, died Sunday
evening, January 9, 2005 at the Austinburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center with
all of his children at his side.
Mr. Burtt was born June 27, 1930 in Andover, the son of Walter M. and Mae B.
(Coy) Burtt and has lived in Ashtabula County all of his life. He was married to
Joyce A. Hand on Aug. 20, 1946 in Conneaut Lake, Pa. Mr. Burtt was employed with
Petrowater, Inc., and was retired from CGI Silvercote in Solon.
Mr. Burtt was a professional truck driver all of his life, which took him all
over the country. His journeys gave him many tales to share. He loved his wife
and family and would be there for them in their time of need, even driving
hundreds of miles in a blizzard in the middle of the night to pick up one of his
stranded children. He enjoyed an occasional golf game, was involved with pull
horses, was a member of the NRA and was faithful in meeting friends for early
morning coffee.
Survivors include his six children: Fred E. Burtt, Ashtabula, Rebecca M.
Dietrich, Jefferson, Donald L. Burtt, Andover, David A. Burtt, Conneaut,
Randy M. Burtt, N. Kingsville and Dawn N. Dale, Conneaut; 10
grandchildren; one great-grandchildren and eight siblings, Fred M. Burtt,
Williamsfield Twp., Joyce Walters, Nelson Ledges, Mary Daubenspeck, Jefferson,
Ray Ball, Ashtabula, William Ball, Geneva, Gordon Ball, Andarko, Oklahoma,
Delores Moore, Jefferson and Ellen Bullis, Dayton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce in 2001; a daughter,
Geri M. Bowler; a son, Fern A. Burtt and two grandsons, Samuel Burtt and William
Bowler.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the FLEMING FUNERAL HOME,
INC., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Jim Sabin of the Christian

CONNEAUT - Romey C. Bryant, age 79, of Conneaut, OH, died Wednesday,
January 12, 2005, at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, PA.
Mr. Bryant was born May 4, 1925 in Queens Shoals, WV, the son of
Everett and Florence (Short) Bryant.
Romey sailed on the Great Lakes for a short time and received a
disability from the Great Lakes Shipping Company, he also sailed for Kinsman
Marie Company. He came to Conneaut in 1969 from Adrian, MI. Romey
hauled trash locally for many years, until his recent illness. He was
always trying to help others.
Romey was a former member of the American Legion, Moose Club,
and the V.F.W., and a member of the Eagles and Elks Clubs.
He enjoyed horseracing, casinos, and watching all kinds of
sports. He loved to spend time with his friends and family socializing.
Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers,
James, Herman and William; and five sisters, Nancy Gibson, Mary Link, Ethel
Martin, Marie Stevens, and Emaline Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Donna (Javorich) Bryant, whom
he married July 4, 1957; six sons, Al "Clearance" Bryant, Russell Lee Bryant and
Jennings Lee Bryant, all of Texas, Gary Wayne Bryant, Romey Lee Bryant and Terry
Bryant, all of Conneaut; three daughters, Barbara Ann of Huntington,
Linda Sue Kemp of Bumpass, VA and Sharon Vendetti of Conneaut; a sister,
Anne Landers of Tad, WV; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

CONNEAUT — Melvin Harold Owens, age 87, of Conneaut, OH, died early
Monday afternoon, January 17, 2005, at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, PA.
He was born March 25, 1917 in Youngstown, OH, the son of David T. and Margaret
(Evans) Owens. He came to Conneaut in 1946 following 41/2 years of
service to his country during World War II, serving in the United States Army in
England, Africa, Italy and Ireland.
He worked for many years at the former Astatic Corporation as a tool maker until
his retirement. Melvin enjoyed home remodeling and watching the ducks down at
the lake.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Doris (Bender) Owens of Conneaut; two
sons, David and Carol Owens of Marianna, PA, and Thomas and Alice Owens of
Cincinnati; two daughters, Judy and Gary Kreiling of Grove City, OH, and Jean
Owens of New Philadelphia; six grandchildren, Tonya and Scott Burke of
Ashtabula, Jennifer Owens of New Philadelphia, Tracy and Jeanne Owens of
Philadelphia, PA, Robin Owens of the Philippines, and Miriam and Vivian Owens,
both of Cincinnati.
Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Vivian Pusser and
Mary Mildred Owens; and his favorite cat, Sandy.
At the request of the family, there will be no Calling Hours. Final disposition
of Melvin's remains will take place at the convenience of the family.

SAMSON, AL — Vernetta Wheeler Crawford, a loving mother known as “Mom” to many
and a resident of St. Cloud, FL, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2005, at the
home of her son, Jim Wheeler, State Hwy. 153, Samson, AL 36477, following a
brief illness. She was 80.
Mrs. Crawford was born December 7, 1924, in Charleston, WV, to the late Gilbert
S. and Gatha C. (Koontz) Sprouse. She graduated from Ripley High School in 1942.
She had lived in St. Cloud for many years and was a former Conneaut
resident.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in St. Cloud, FL, where she was
active in the Choir. Her love of music led her to become a member of The Sweet
Adelines, The Ladies Ensemble, The Astatic Choir and numerous other musical
groups.
Survivors include three daughters, Sally (Larry) Rood of Fenton, MI, Becky (Harv)
Buckingham of St. Cloud, FL, and Pam (Steve) Wilson of Pickens, SC; one son, Jim
(Brenda) Wheeler of Samson, AL; one sister, Kitty (Bill) Broughton of
Kingsville, OH; grandchildren, Ed Remmel of Mt. Morris, MI, Brian and Erik
Rood of Fenton, MI, Jessi Wheeler Akridge of Geneva, AL, James “Bud” Wheeler,

A. DICKINSON
CONNEAUT – Dean A. Dickinson, age 78 of Conneaut, died Wednesday,
January 19, 2005 at his residence, following a brief illness.
Mr. Dickinson was born December 5, 1926 in Conneaut the son of Charles
and Ruth (Thompson) Dickinson. He was a 1944 Conneaut High School
graduate. He went on to serve his country with the Army Air Corp. during World
War II until he was honorably discharged. He worked at General Electric, former
Astatic Corp. and retired from the Pittsburgh and Conneaut Dock in 1986,
where he worked as a diesel mechanic and hughlett operator. Dean was a 50 year
member of the American Legion, the Conneaut Moose Club, the Northeast
Radio Flyers Club, the E. Sienbenbuerger S & G Men's German Club, the American
Model Association, and also the Lighthouse Cruisers, of which he enjoyed driving
his 1929 Model T Ford Truck. He also enjoyed traveling to the Fenton Glass
Factory with his wife, Phyllis, and going "flea marketing" every Sunday morning.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Mary Jane Howard.
Mr. Dickinson is survived by his wife, Phyllis Bartone Dickinson, whom he
married May 28, 1949 at St. Mary Church in Conneaut; sons, Thomas
Dickinson of St. Clairsville, Ohio and Kenneth Boggs of Canton Ohio; and a
sister, Ann Nappi of Conneaut.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, at St. Mary
Church, with Father Raymond Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at St.
Joseph Cemetery in Conneaut, where the American Legion Honor Squadron will
conduct military rites.

He was born July 19, 1929 in Kirtland, the son of Charles and Grace (Patchin)
Presley and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1947.
He served in the US Army for five years before being honorably discharged in
1956.
A carpenter by trade, he owned and operated Presley Builders, which he founded
in 1963.
Randy was a collector of “meaningful junk”, a volunteer with the Plymouth Fire
Department, and enjoyed riding snowmobiles, camping, and his grandchildren.
Survivors include two children, Kevin (wife Sherri) Presley of Ashtabula and
Colleen Presley of Painesville; three grandchildren, Katie, Kendall and Ryan;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Salsbury, and his parents.

(Galinski) Kedzerski.
A Rock Creek resident most of her life, Mrs. Viska had lived in Ashtabula for
the past 15 years. She was previously employed at Great Lakes Tractor in Rock
Creek and Advanced Technology Corp. in Geneva. She was an avid card player
enjoying Bridge, Poker and Rummy. She also enjoyed raising flowers and being
with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith Guscott of North Kingsville and Janet
Hartman of Florida; a sister Lucy Currie of Fredericktown, Ohio; a brother Edman

Mrs. Chapin was a graduate of Newton High School in Newton, MA, where she was
employed as a teller at the Newton Savings Bank. She also worked at Raytheon
from 1944 to 1945 and was co-owner with her husband of Chapin’s Golden Dawn in
Pierpont from 1969 to 1984. Mrs. Chapin was Roman Catholic by faith and attended
various area Roman Catholic Churches. While her family was young, she was a 4-H
Leader, a Cub Scout Leader and member and president of P.T.O. She enjoyed
reading, painting, doing crafts, knitting and crocheting and was a member of the
Cover Girls of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed her family and
traveling throughout the United States particularly New England, and the world.
Survivors include her daughter Karin (Robert) Tennant of Conneaut; five
sons, Daniel of Centreville, VA, John (Susan) of Conneaut, Michael (Joan)
of Wright Patterson AFB, OH, Roy of Winnetka, CA, and Christopher (Myleen) of
Simi Valley, CA; two sisters, Doris Frediani of S. Weymouth, MA and Michelle
Marrs of Phoenix, AZ; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Chapin whom she married August 31,
1946; her mother Elsa (Olson) Frey, and a son Allen H. Chapin in 1953 as an
infant.
Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 25, at the convenience of the
family in Evergreen Cemetery, Pierpont, with the Rev. Raymond Thomas, pastor of
St. Mary and St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Churches officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 23 at the MARCY FUNERAL
HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut.

NORTH KINGSVILLE – Roger Duane Welton Sr., 74, a resident of North
Kingsville, died Thursday evening, January 20, 2005 at Ashtabula County
Medical Center.
Born Nov. 23, 1931 in Rock Creek, he was the son of Virgil and Dorothy (Bentley)
Welton.
In 1949 he graduated from Ashtabula High School. A veteran of the U.S. Army
serving during the Korean War he received three Purple Hearts.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he worked throughout Ashtabula
County. He also worked for Ashtabula Towers as a supervisor in maintenance.
He was a lifetime member in VFW Lodge and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing,
bowling, woodworking and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife Donna White Welton; sons Roger (Marjorie) Welton Jr.
and David (Debbie) Welton, both of Ashtabula; daughters Debi (Dan) Steighner of
Niceville, Florida and Renay (Terry) Weber of Dorset; stepchildren Michael (Valarie)
Sjostrom, Carol (Rusty) Mullen, Marty (Diana) Sjostrom, all of Ashtabula, Mark

ALBION, PA — Maryann McCall Buchner, age 74, of Albion, PA, died on Friday,
January 21, 2005, at Millcreek Community Hospital, Erie, PA.
Born March 3, 1930 in Conneaut, OH, she was the daughter of Etta
Messenger Hicks of Albion and the late Kenneth Hicks.
She was a member of St. Lawrence Church, Albion, PA. She enjoyed gardening,
reading and crocheting.
She owned and operated Buchner's Tavern in Albion for many years.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Patricius McCall; her second
husband, Bill Buchner; a son, Phillip McCall; a brother, Kenneth Hicks; and a
grandson, Joseph McCall.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (Bob) Caldwell of Conneaut, OH;
three sons, Clancy (Kathy) McCall of Pierpont, OH, Patrick (Freda) McCall
of Conneaut, OH, and Bill Buchner of Albion, PA; two sisters, Marlene
Daggett of East Springfield, PA and Kay (Jim) Parnell of Milton, Ontario,

KINGSVILLE — Ardelle Naomi Blad, 59, of Route 193 died Wednesday, January 19,
2005.
She was born May 7, 1945 in Reading, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Arthur and
Nora (Bjolseth) Blad and had been an area resident since 1986 moving from
Youngstown.
She earned her Masters Degree in Education from Youngstown State University in
1982 and had a degree in Clinical Hypnosis and a third degree in Reiki.
Ms. Blad worked as a licensed professional clinical counselor at the Community
Counseling Center in Ashtabula for the past sixteen years.
She enjoyed all animals, traveling, spiritual groups, and had a love for life
and for helping people.
Her survivors include her son, John (wife Loretta) Conner of Madison; two
grandchildren, Alecia and Sean; and her sister, Arlene Hunter of Shillington,
PA.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Arnold, and her parents.
A time of sharing with family and friends will be held at 8:00 PM, Monday,

SHIRLEY JANE PERRY
CHAMPAIGN, ILLINOIS – Shirley Jane Perry, 83 of Champaign, Illinois passed away
Thursday night, January 20, 2005 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana,
Illinois.
Shirley was born on April 20, 1921 in Conneaut, Ohio.
She was the daughter of Floyd and June Wardman Kimball. She married Kenneth W.
Perry on Sept.. 5, 1942 in Lawton, Oklahoma.
She graduated from Conneaut High School in 1938. She received a
bachelor's degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 1942 and a master's degree
in library science from the University of Illinois in 1965.
Mrs. Perry was a librarian at the University of Illinois library from 1950 to
1967. She had also been employed at the Urbana High School library and the
Parsons College library at Fairfield, Iowa, and by E.I. DuPont at Charlestown,
Indiana as a chemistry lab technician.
Mrs. Perry was a life member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association; a
member of the President's Council of the University of Illinois Foundation;
member of the University of Illinois Women's Club; member of the Chapter JP,
P.E.O. Sisterhood, and a former member of the Burnham Hospital Auxiliary. She
was a member of the Beta Phi Mu library honorary and a member of the Faith
United Methodist Church in Champaign, Illinois.
Kenneth Perry survives of Champaign, Illinois. Also surviving are one daughter
Constance June "Kay" Warfel of Tolono, Illinois; five grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two brothers.

CONNEAUT — Agnes M. Cebasek, age 79, of Conneaut, OH, died Monday,
January 24, 2005, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Cebasek was born March 27, 1927 in Renovo, PA, the daughter of Joseph and
Mary (Marold) Urbank. Agnes worked for the Northwestern School District at both
West and East Springfield Schools as a custodian, until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church in Conneaut, the SNPJ
Lodge #237, and also a former Girl Scout Leader.
Agnes was a big Cleveland Indians fan and also had a green thumb for her house
plants. She enjoyed antiquing and going to flea markets, and especially reading
biographies. Years ago, she enjoyed traveling to Italy and Yugoslavia to visit
her mother. She also enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Texas, and Las Vegas, and loved to
play the slot machines. She was very devoted to her grandchildren and family and
loved cooking for them, especially Slovenian food.
Mrs. Cebasek was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Julius T. Cebasek, whom she married April 27,
1946 at Mother of Sorrows Church in Ashtabula; a son, Tom and Cathy Cebasek of
Conneaut; two daughters, Mary and Rodney Young and Sandy Cebasek, both of
Conneaut; a brother, Herman and Kay Urbank of Shady Point, OK; a
half-sister, Mary Francis DeBiagio of Italy; five grandchildren, Tim and Christy
Swann of Deptford, NJ, Pam Swann of Conneaut, Gary and Lee Ann Young of
Conneaut, Michelle and David Edelman of Willoughby, and Molly Young of
Conneaut; and one great-grandchild, Ethan Knight, and one great-grandchild
on the way.

2005, at St. Frances Cabrini Church, with Father Raymond Thomas officiating.

Born in London, England, she migrated to Pittsburgh, PA to get married at 21
years old. In the early 1980’s, she and her husband moved to the Gulfport area
from Conneaut, OH.
She was a homemaker. She was a Catholic and enjoyed reading and gardening.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, William V.; a daughter, Valerie J.
Brown and son-in-law, Ed, of Conneaut, OH; a sister, Vera Mason of
Somerset, England; a brother, Mick Roberts of Salisbury, England; a niece, Jay
Mason of Somerset, England; and numerous relative in Pittsburgh, PA and North
Carolina.

DONALD S. VOROUS
KINGSVILLE – Donald S. Vorous, 77 of Kingsville Twp., died early
Monday morning at the University Hospital in Cleveland where he had been a
patient the past month following a six month illness.
He was born Dec. 20, 1927 in Ashtabula, the son of Walter S. and Ilea D.
(Patton) Vorous and lived in Ashtabula until 1950 when he moved to Kingsville
Twp. He was a 21-year member of the Emco Wheaton Corp. in Conneaut,
retiring, in 1991. He was also a Realtor for Old Reserve Realty in Jefferson for
12 years.
He was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church in Ashtabula where he
served as Elder for 28 years and held all offices; was an adult advisor in Sea
Scouts; a member and past commander of the U.S. Power Squadron and a former
member of the Moose Lodge in Conneaut.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Irene (Moore) Vorous, whom he married on July
25, 1992 at the First Christian Church; two daughters, Nancy E. Daughtry and
Linda Rae Frahm, both of Ashtabula; one grandson and a sister, Evelyn Hammond of
Willoughby.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his second wife, Florence Folk in 1960
and two children, Gail L. Vorous and Timothy S. Vorous.

ANDOVER — John R. Ballentine, age 86, of State Route 7, Andover, OH, died
Saturday, January 8, 2005, at his residence.
Born December 9, 1918 in Leon, OH, he was a son of the late William D. and Floy
D. (Norman) Ballentine.
A lifetime area resident, Mr. Ballentine worked as a salesman for the Central
Petroleum Company for over 54 years. He was a World War II Veteran having served
in the United States Navy Seabees.
Mr. Ballentine was a member of the Leon United Methodist Church; a lifetime
member of Masonic Lodge #506 F and AM in Andover; and the Fraternal Order of
Eagles Aerie #4035 in Andover.
Mr. Ballentine enjoyed golfing and his family.
Survivors include a son, David J. Ballentine of Andover; a sister, Virginia
Dustman of Willoughby; four granddaughters, Melissa Ballentine, Kimberly
Ballentine, Beth Tomlinson, and Tonya Becker; and three grandsons, Timothy
Ballentine, John Ballentine, and Joe Ballentine.
Mr. Ballentine was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Ann (Ceapa) Ballentine
on December 7, 1994. They were married on December 25, 1942. He was also
preceded in death by a son, Richard J. Ballentine; his parents; sisters, Mary

CONNEAUT — Mary A. Babbitt, age 76, of Conneaut, OH, died Tuesday,
January 25, 2005, at Ashtabula County Medical Center in Ashtabula, OH.
Mary was born May 5, 1928 in Birkenhead, England, the daughter of Leo and Ellen
(Lyons) Caley. She served in the British Navy during World War II on the HMS
Glendower and from 1945 to 1948 at the HMS Raleigh Naval Hospital Sea Fourth.
She came to the United States in 1969 and was employed by Transplastics and the
Eighmy Corporation as a finisher.
Mrs. Babbitt was a member of St. Mary Church in Conneaut and the American
Legion.
She enjoyed arranging flowers and reading, as well as, shopping and traveling
abroad.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Babbitt, whom she married February 28,
1970; a son, Robert Skinner of South England; a step-son, Timothy Babbitt of
Wyoming; and two grandchildren.

ASHTABULA — Andrew J. Didtko, age 84, of North Bend Road, died Monday, January
24, 2005.
He was born August 6, 1920 in Footdale, PA, the son of Joseph and Feley (Senko)
Didtko and moved to the Ashtabula area in 2000 from Cleveland.
He worked as a coal miner and was on the taxi squad for the Cleveland Rams
football team. He served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II.
He enjoyed his grand and great-grandchildren and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers
fan.
His survivors include four step-children, David Osborn Jr. of California, Robert
Osborn of Conneaut, Regina Grafton Hill of Ashtabula, and Thomas Osborn
of Urichville, OH; one sister, Frances Fenyous of Mifflin, PA; and former
brother-in-law, Frank Lukerchine of Cleveland; six grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Esther Agnes Didtko, and his parents.

KINGSVILLE — Benny Benjamin Domizi, age 77, a resident of Kingsville, OH,
died at his home on Sunday, January 23, 2005.
Born June 2, 1927 in Ashtabula, he was the son of Angelo and Ida (Agnetti)
Domizi. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Navy.

He retired from Geneva True Temper, and also worked for Ashtabula Metropolitan
Housing and the Gran Signora Manor Apts in Ashtabula.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952 and attended the Peoples Church in
Geneva.
His hobbies included “detailing” cars and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; sons, Maj. George H. of Gallatin, TN and
Robert W. of Geneva; daughter, Doreen L. Oliver of Gallatin, TN; ten
grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Whelan of Seneca, NY;

MARY A. BABBITT
CONNEAUT — Mary A. Babbitt, age 76, of Conneaut, OH, died Tuesday,
January 25, 2005, at Ashtabula County Medical Center in Ashtabula, OH.
Mary was born May 5, 1928 in Birkenhead, England, the daughter of Leo and Ellen
(Lyons) Caley. She served in the British Navy during World War II on the HMS
Glendower and from 1945 to 1948 at the HMS Raleigh Naval Hospital Sea Fourth.
She came to the United States in 1969 and was employed by Transplastics and the
Eighmy Corporation as a finisher.
Mrs. Babbitt was a member of St. Mary Church in Conneaut and the American
Legion.
She enjoyed arranging flowers and reading, as well as, shopping and traveling
abroad.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Babbitt, whom she married February 28,
1970; a son, Robert Skinner of South England; a step-son, Timothy Babbitt of
Wyoming; a step-daughter, Lori Babbitt of Arizona; and two grandchildren.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 28,
2005, at St. Mary Church, Conneaut, with Father Raymond Thomas officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, OH.

ASHTABULA – Marion Florence (Annick) Busch, 84 of Ashtabula, died Tuesday,
January 25, 2005 in Park Haven Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 26, 1920 in Ashtabula, she was the daughter
of Anthony and Florence (Pavolino) Annick.
A graduate of Ashtabula High School for many years she
made her home in Mayfield Village.
Survivors include two sons: Ralph (Carol) Zullo of
Ashtabula and James (Joann DiMatteo) Busch of Cleveland Hts.; grandchildren
Donna (Tom) Nelson, Michael (Jennifer) Zullo, Karen (Larry) DeGeorge and Renee
Schepis; eight great grandchildren and a sister Veronica Campagne of Ashtabula.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband Thomas James Busch; a grandson Louis Zullo and sisters Eleanor Muto and
Carrie Annick.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 28 at 1:30
p.m. in Mother of Sorrows Church with entombment to follow in Greenlawn
Memory Gardens.

MICHAEL J. BARTONE
CONNEAUT — Michael Joseph Bartone, age 83, formerly of Conneaut,
died Monday, January 24, 2005, at the Kemper House of Mentor, OH.
Mr. Bartone was born January 18, 1922 in Conneaut,
OH, the son of Nicola and Carmela (Taddeo) Bartone. He graduated from
Conneaut High School in 1940 and went on to serve in the United States Army
during World War II from 1942 to 1945.
He was employed by General Electric for 35 years as a
machinist, until his retirement in 1984.
Michael was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church in
Conneaut. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening, swimming and traveling.
Mr. Bartone was preceded in death by his parents; his
wife, Teresa in 1986; and three sisters, Alvera Bartone, Mary Temple and Julia
Mundy.
He is survived by a daughter, Maribeth and William
Marlowe of Mentor, OH; two brothers, Fiory and Lucille Bartone of Conneaut and
Anthony and Marian Bartone of Kingsville; a sister, Dorothy Notorianne of Erie;
and two grandchildren, Michael and Tom Marlowe of Mentor, OH.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m.
on Saturday, January 29, 2005, at St. Frances Cabrini Church in Conneaut,
with Father Raymond Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph
Cemetery, Conneaut, where the American Legion Honor Squadron will present
the American Flag to his family.

CONNEAUT — Alice S. Larson, age 92, of Parma, OH, formerly of Brooklyn,
OH, died Tuesday, January 25, 2005, at the Pleasant Lake Villa in Parma.
She was born October 22, 1912 in Conneaut, OH,
and was a daughter of John and Josephine (Sundberg) Tenhonen.
A graduate of Conneaut High School, she moved to
the Cleveland area following her marriage.
She was Lutheran by faith, and enjoyed crossword
puzzles, and raising plants and flowers, especially African Violets.
Survivors include her daughter, Judith Gall of Parma;
two sons, Ronald Larson of New South Wales, Australia and Richard Larson of
Woodhaven, MI; three grandchildren, Edward and James Larson, both of Australia
and Michelle Liller of Lakewood, OH; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,
Hans Larson in 1968; two sisters, Helen Bolden and Hilda Livingston; and a
brother, Robert Tenhonen.
Graveside Service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, January
28, 2005, in Center Cemetery, Conneaut, OH, with the Reverend Chuck
Graham, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m., noon, until 1:30 p.m.

the last four years, and formerly of Warren, OH, died early Wednesday morning,
January 26, 2005, at Brown Memorial Hospital in Conneaut.
Born May 6, 1934 in Wellford, WV, she was a daughter of the late Frank and
Blanche (Smith) Stanley.
She was a homemaker and was married to James D. W. Skelton.
Survivors include two brothers, Bud Stanley of Erie, PA and Butch Stanley of
Spencer, WV; two sisters, Violet Markwell of Gnadenhutten, OH and Joyce Markwell
of Conneaut, OH; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. W. Skelton in 1986; a
daughter, Debra Clevenger; and two sisters, Mary Ann Krysiak and Rosalie
Robinson.

CONNEAUT — David J. Kister, 64, of Bushnell Rd. Conneaut, died
Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at Brown Memorial Hospital in Conneaut. He
was born May 8, 1940 in Conneaut the son of John and Marie (Tuttle)
Kister and has been a lifetime area resident.
He was a graduate of Kingsville High School. He served in the Army during
the Viet Nam Era and was employed with Operating Engineer’s Local #18. He was a
member of the Antique Engine Club. He enjoyed farming, restoring tractors, and
spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving him are his wife Kathleen (Lehto) Kister whom he married December 6,
1968; two sons, Keith of Conneaut and David (Charlotte) of Conneaut;
four grandchildren, Mackenzie, Taryn, Ali and Drew and his sister, Hilda Kohler
of Perry Village.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Phillip Kister.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 29, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the
Bethany Lutheran Church, 933 Michigan Ave., Ashtabula with Rev. Thomas Ford and
Rev. Jerry Webb officiating.

passed away Thursday, January 27, 2005 at Hospice House in East Lake, Ohio,
after a long battle with cancer.
Vicki was born June 21, 1955, in Luna Pier, Michigan, and was a daughter of
William and Bonnie Jean (Grimes) DeBruyne.
She is survived and will be greatly missed by her loving family including her
husband Thomas J. Taylor of Conneaut; her father William of Lake
Okeechobee, Florida; her brother William (Deb) DeBruyne of Ionia, Michigan; a
sister Karen Nelson of Monroe, Michigan; brother James DeBruyne of
Lexington, Kentucky; brother Steven DeBruyne of Baldwin, Michigan; brother
Michael (Melanie) DeBruyne of Lansing, Michigan; brother Mark (Debbie) DeBruyne
of Monroe, Michigan and a sister Bonnie (Carl) Dingledine of Monroe, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her mother on January 27, 1999.

Saturday evening, January 29, 2005 at Tender Hearts Nursing facility in Lake
Mary, Florida.
Born in Denmark Township on Sept. 17, 1918, she was the daughter
of Benjamin and Lesta Leonard.
Mrs. Lewis was employed by Andover Industries for seventeen years and enjoyed
reading, sewing and watching her soaps.
Survivors include her daughter Susan (Mark) Nelson; her granddaughter Kimberly
(Steve) Wajda and one great grandson Chase.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Keith B. Lewis; son George W.
Lewis; brother Hershal Leonard; sisters, Bertha Walker, Hazel Burtt, Frances
Burdick and Helen Wiser.
Mrs. Lewis will be interred in Evergreen Cemetery in Pierpont.
