NELLIE B. SWAN
CONNEAUT - - Nellie Brown Swan, age 97, a former resident of
Conneaut, Ohio, died Sunday, December 31, 2006, at Rolling Fields Nursing Home
of Conneautville, Pennsylvania.
Born August 30, 1909 in Beverly, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Frank
and Nellie (McCartney) Clark.
After graduating from high school, she completed training at St. Joseph Nursing
School in Massachusetts.
She lived most of her life in the Conneaut Lake Area and was a member of the
Rebecca Lodge of that area.
Survivors include a son, Allan C. Swan of Evansville, Indiana; two daughters,
Judith Foust of Conneaut Lake and Nancy Lois Worden of Kingsville; six
grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allan Swan; a
son, Richard Swan; and two grandsons, Dean Robert Foust and Richard Neal Worden.
Memorial Services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2007, at the Amboy
United Methodist Church, 554 West Main Road, Conneaut, Ohio, with the Reverend
Tami Toothman-Shoup officiating. Burial will be in Gageville Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by the GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 6280 South Main
Street, North Kingsville, Ohio.
ANNA M. SILLANPAA
CONNEAUT - - Anna Mae Sillanpaa, age 80, of Conneaut, Ohio,
died Monday morning, January 1, 2007, at The Villa at the Lake in Conneaut.
Anna was born February 11, 1926 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of
James and Sadie Patton. Anna graduated from high school in the Pittsburgh area
and came to Conneaut in the summertime to Camp Calvary, where she later met her
husband, Raymond. They were married at Camp Calvary on August 24, 1947.
She went on to work at the former Goldette Clothing Factory, Hercules Packing,
and she later retired from Brown Memorial Hospital, after several years of
service in the instrument sterilization department.
Anna Mae was a wonderful seamstress and loved to crochet many things for her
family, friends and grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, her flower garden,
and loved to cook.
Anna is survived by her husband, Raymond J. Sillanpaa; one daughter, Robin and
James Bryant, of Conneaut; three grandchildren, Shelly and Scott Carpenter,
Mandy and Adam Wright, and Kris and Marc Cameron, all of Conneaut; five
great-grandchildren, Chase and Sidney Carpenter, Jeala Dragon and Rae Ann
Wright, and Colton Cameron, all of Conneaut; a brother, Jack Patton of
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and a sister, Gertrude Buchanan of Cleveland.
Mrs. Sillanpaa was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James Patton
and Dick Patton; sisters, Mary Beers, Coletta McGrail and infant sister, Sissie
Patton.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 12 p.m., Noon, on Thursday, January 4,
2007, at St. Frances Cabrini Church with Father Raymond Thomas officiating.
Burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery at the convenience of the
family.
Calling Hours will be held Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at
St. Frances Cabrini Church, 744 Mill Street., Conneaut.

JAMES H. STROETER
CONNEAUT - - James H. Stroeter, age 44, of Conneaut, Ohio, died
unexpectedly Saturday, December 30, 2006.
He was born May 30, 1962 in Cleveland, Ohio, and was the son of Barbara A. (DeFrieze)
Stroeter and the late Richard E. Stroeter.
Mr. Stroeter was currently employed at Millennium/Lyondell Ashtabula Plant as a
supervisor and production planner. He had also worked for Witt, Inc., Headley
Co., Northeast Maintenance, and Wight supply.
He was a member of the Conneaut Fish and Game Club, the Conneaut Tree
Commission, and volunteered for UNICEF.
A devoted husband and father, he loved life, laughter and adventure and taught
his children to do the same. He had an extremely dedicated work ethic, and
always gave 110%25, but also enjoyed gardening, coin and bottle collecting,
4-wheeling, dirt bike riding, skeet shooting, fishing, and going to the beach.
Survivors include his wife, Gina R. (Headley), whom he married October 24, 1981;
his daughter, Courtney Rae Stroeter, and two sons, Justin Eugene Stroeter and
Cody James Stroeter, all at home; his mother of Conneaut; two sisters, Sandra L.
(Richard) Holcomb of Ashtabula, Ohio and Mary Jo Stroeter of LaMesa, California;
a brother, Richard A. (Rebecca) Stroeter of Naples, Florida; and three nieces,
four great-nieces, four nephews, and two great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard E. Stroeter; his brother-in-law,
Adam Headley; uncle and aunt, Bud and Mary Jane Adams; and an uncle, Howard
Cooper.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2007, at the MARCY
FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty Street, Conneaut, Ohio, with the
Reverend Jonathan Singer, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial
will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Pierpont, Ohio.
Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 3, 2007, from 2 to 4
p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
An act of kindness performed in James’ honor to someone else would be greatly
appreciated by the family.

MONROE - - Pfc. Craig A. Georgia, age 21, of Monroe Township,
Ohio, and Fort Hood, Texas, died Friday, December 29, 2007, in a vehicle
accident in Monroe Township, while home on leave from the U.S. Army after
serving a year’s tour of duty in Iraq. He was born July 22, 1985, in Ashtabula,
Ohio, and was the son of Daniel E. Georgia and Sharon A. (Moisio) White.
A 2004 Conneaut High School graduate, Craig entered the service in 2004, and was
currently stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, where he was an officer in the Military
Police. He enjoyed hunting, four-wheeling, and loved being with his family and
friends.
Survivors include his father, Daniel E. (Debra) Georgia of Monroe Township; his
mother, Sharon A. (Bruce) White of Monroe Township; three half-sisters, Samantha
White and Beth and Chris Georgia, all of Monroe Township; half-brother, James
White of Monroe Township; a step-sister, Stephanie Oehlenschlaeger, and
step-brother, Shawn Oehlenschlaeger, both of Conneaut, Ohio; maternal
grandparents, Paul and Clara Moisio of Jefferson, Ohio; step-grandparents,
Shirley White of Rome, Ohio, and Carol Bennett of North Kingsville, Ohio; John
and Jessie Benson of Conneaut, Ohio; and Donald Goodenow of Beaver Center,
Pennsylvania. Also surviving are uncles and aunts: Paul Moisio of Orlando,
Florida, Joe and Cynthia (Moisio) Nagy of Jefferson, Ohio, Dennis and Marianne (Moisio)
of Jefferson, Ohio, Kenn and Susan Moisio of Aurora, Indiana, Perry and Lisa (Moisio)
Heath of Ashtabula, Ohio, Bob and Angie (Georgia) Heath of Monroe Township, and
Brenda Mannon of Key West, Florida; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Everett Georgia, Jr.; grandmother,
Millie Brown; step-grandfather, James White; and a cousin, Joshua Bowers.

THE VILLAGES, FL - - John J. Renkes, Jr., age 65, died Friday, January 26, 2007,
at The Villages Regional Hospital, in The Villages, Florida.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he lived in Conneaut, Ohio, prior to moving to
Florida.
Mr. Renkes was the former owner and operator of Windy Hill Golf Course and
Campground in Conneaut, Ohio. He was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Lee Renkes of The Villages, Florida;
daughters Elizabeth Renkes of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Kristen Renkes and
Karin Renkes, both of The Villages, Florida; a sister, Cecilia Roland of Beaver,
Pennsylvania; and his mother, Josephine Renkes of Beaver, Pennsylvania.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at HIERS-BAXLEY FUNERAL
SERVICES, The Villages, Florida.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, January 30,, 2007, at the Funeral
Home.

V. LORRAINE STRUCHEN
CONNEAUT - - V. Lorraine Struchen, age 78, of Conneaut, Ohio,
died unexpectedly Sunday evening, January 28, 2007, at Hamot Medical Center, in
Erie, Pennsylvania, of a probable coronary.
Born January 2, 1929, in Greenville, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of
Curnsy "Rit" and Marie (Kloffler) Ritenour, and was a Conneaut resident for the
past 20 years. Mrs. Struchen had been employed as billing executive at
Copes-Vulcan in Lake City, Pennsylvania. Following her retirement, she served as
senior aide at the Conneaut Community Center for the Arts, and at the Conneaut
Human Resources Center.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Ladies of the Moose, Ladies
of the Lake Red Hats, and the Kitchen Band at Conneaut Manor. She enjoyed her
family, crossword puzzles, bowling, reading, playing cards, watching football,
and socializing with people.
Survivors include her daughter, Carri (Chuck) Kent of North Kingsville, Ohio;
two sons, T. Paul (Kim) Vacanti of Franklin, Pennsylvania, and Forrest "Chip"
Struchen of Erie, Pennsylvania; two loving step-daughters, Vickey Barker and
Twila Dewey of Conneaut, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Greg and Jayson Kent, Theresa
Morrison, Brandy Kohut, Bethany Barker, Ryan Vacanti, Michael Dewey, James,
Natasha, and Brandon Struchen; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Zakery Kent; and her
brother, Ted Ritenour.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, February 1, 2007, at the MARCY
FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty Street, Conneaut, Ohio, with
Reverend Chuck Graham, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
