RHEA M. HARLACHER
CONNEAUT - - Rhea M. Harlacher, age 83, of Crestwood Dr.,
Conneaut, Ohio, died Monday, July 30, 2007, at U.H.-Conneaut Medical Center.
Born January 20, 1924, in Herbst, Indiana, she was a daughter to the late
Stanley and Ella Mae (Stalker) Bittner and has resided in Conneaut most of her
life
Rhea worked as a waitress at Johnson’s Diner for 10
years, she also worked at Hercules Packing and Inn Conneaut for some time.
In her earlier years she enjoyed swimming. She also enjoyed watching the Browns
and the Indian’s, and crocheting.
Survivors include three sons, David (Lynne) Harlacher
of N. Kingsville, Christopher Harlacher of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Kevin Harlacher
of Conneaut; grandchildren, Robert Harlacher, Matthew Harlacher, Michael
Harlacher, Jill Harlacher and Rebecca Eubanks; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; and a sister,
Catherine Humalainen.
At her request there
will be no Calling Hours, cremation has taken place. A Graveside Service will be
held on Thursday, August 2, 2007, with Pastor Tim Kraus, of the Conneaut Church
of Christ, officiating.
The family suggests memorials be made in her name to
the Animal Protective League, envelopes are available at the Funeral Home.

MARCELLA E. WOOD
KELLOGGSVILLE - Marcella E. Wood, age 86, of Kelloggsville, Ohio, died at the
Ashtabula County Nursing Home in Kingsville, Ohio, on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007.
Born Aug. 16, 1920, in Superior, Wisconsin, she was the
daughter of Dewey and Jeanette LaJoie. Marcella married Alton (Bud) Wood of
Hartsgrove, Ohio, on Jan. 17, 1941, and moved to Kelloggsville in 1950.
She was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in
Sheffield, Ohio and the Monroe Sirens of the Monroe Township Fire Department.
She and Shirley Harco were hostesses for the bus trips sponsored by the Monroe
Sirens to raise money for the Fire Department. Her favorite trips were to
Atlantic City, Florida and Macinaw Island.
Survivors include her children, Jerry (Mavis) of
Antioch, Calif., Linda (Merle) Banning of Austinburg, Ohio, Penelope (Earl)
Rasnick of Houston, Texas, Pamela (Art) Wallace of Conneautville, Pa., Jeffery
(Leila) of Crystal River, Fla., Timothy (Donna) of Sheffield, Ohio and Terry
(Anita) of Kelloggsville, Ohio; four brothers; four sisters; 19 grandchildren,
Troy, Tara, Sheri, Ricky, Stacy, Tim, Tina, Jenny, Debbie, Chrissy, Missy, Jeff,
Chris, Matt, Marc, Mike, Casey, Cayla and Josh; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton; her
infant daughter, Diane; her son-in-law, Jerry, her parents; and two brothers,
Wallace and Dewey.
A Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9,
2007, at the Zaback-Ducro Chapel, W. Prospect, with Fr. Stephen Wassie of St.
Andrews, officiating.

KATHRYN L. PUFFER
CONNEAUT - - Kathryn "Katy" L. Puffer, age 78, of Conneaut,
Ohio, died early Friday morning, Aug. 3, 2007, at her residence.
Born Aug. 29, 1928, in Conneaut, Ohio she was a
daughter of Steven and Irene (Weaver) Bosick. A 1946 graduate of Rowe High
School, she married her husband, Gerald "Jerry" on Jan. 27, 1951. She worked at
the former Astatic Corporation as a Secretary and then as an Office Manager for
the G.E. Credit Union until retiring in 1992.
Katy loved spending time with her family and friends
and she also enjoyed music, golfing, playing cards and playing the organ. She
especially loved going to high school sporting events and followed her children
and most recently her grandchildren through their sporting careers. She was
known for her apple pie and her husband, Jerry, referred to it as "the best
apple pie in the United States".
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Gerald
"Jerry" Puffer of Conneaut; three sons, Jeffrey (Gretchen) Puffer of Conneaut
Lake, Pa., Thomas (T.R.) Puffer of Houston, Texas and James Joseph (Jimmy Joe)
Puffer of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Rebecca "Becky" (Richard) Perez of Atlanta,
Ga.; two brothers, Thomas (Jerrilynn) Bosick of Kingsville, Ohio and Michael
"Mick" (Helen) Bosick of Alliance, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Carrie,
Michael and Nicholas; and one great grandchild, Audrey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister,
Luella Adams; and a brother, Steve Bosick.
At the request of Katy, there will be no Calling Hours
or Funeral Services.
In lieu of flowers, Katy requests Memorial
Contributions be sent to the Conneaut Rescue Squad, 392 Middle Road, Conneaut.

MONROE - - William S. Pullin, 74, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007.

DOROTHY M. LAWRENCE
GAGEVILLE - - Dorothy M. Lawrence, age 87, of Rt. 193 in
Gageville, Ohio, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, at Villa At The Lake in Conneaut,
Ohio.
Born Jan. 10, 1920, in Bethlehem, Pa., she was the daughter of George A. and
Gertrude E. (Sherman) Shauberger.
She had been employed with the Buckeye Local School
District in the cafeteria until her retirement.
A member of the Gageville United Methodist Church and
Orion Chapter #12 Order of Eastern Star in Kingsville,
she enjoyed sewing, gardening and traveling with her husband.
Survivors include her two daughters, JoAnn (David)
Flack of Anderson, Ind. and Phyllis (John) Higgins of Ashtabula; four
grandchildren, Jennifer (Gary) Koscierzynski, Douglas (Julie) Flack, Christopher
Higgins and Timothy Higgins; and a great-grandchild, Lainey Flack.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,
Donald Lawrence in 1986; two brothers, LeRoy and Ralph Shauberger; and two
sisters, Margaret Brunell and Betty Brunell.
Funeral Services will
be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at the ASHTABULA HOME OF FLEMING & BILLMAN
FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. William Bruehl
officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

BETTY J. ELSTON
CONNEAUT - - Betty J. Elston, age 95, of Conneaut, Ohio, died
Wednesday evening, Aug. 1, 2007, at Inn-Conneaut Health Center, Conneaut, Ohio,
where she had been a resident since 1996.
Born Feb. 18, 1912, in Conneaut, Betty was a daughter of Clarence and Garrie
(Winch) Greenand, and was a 1930 graduate of Conneaut High School.
She was employed in the housekeeping department at the former Brown Memorial
Hospital, now UH-Conneaut Medical Center, for almost 20 years, retiring in 1979.
She attended First Congregational-United Church of Christ, and enjoyed reading
and sewing.
Survivors include her son, Patrick F. Matriscino of Geneva, N.Y.; two
granddaughters, Maria Trowbridge of Mauckville, N.C., and Sharon Years of
Victor, N.Y.; three great-grandchildren, Mark Patrick Years, Shelby Elizabeth
Years and Mia Trowbridge; and many nieces, nephews and more distant relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Grace Franklin and
Gertrude Slocum; and three brothers, David, Howard and Russell Green.
Graveside Services will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, in East
Conneaut Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr.
Rudolph Babcock, pastor of First Congregational United Church of Christ,
officiating.

JANET HAYES
CONNEAUT - - Janet Hayes (Johnson), age 67, died Friday, August
3, 2007, at Andover Nursing Home.
Born September 7, 1939, in Conneaut, she was a daughter
of the late Leon and Pearl (Herpy) Warren. She attended Edgewood High School and
lived in Ashtabula County most of her life.
She is survived by her husband, Randy Johnson;
daughters, Jeanne Hayes and Jeri Gordon, both of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and Debbie
Johnson of Ashtabula; sisters, Dolores Melaragno and Donna Collier, both of
Ashtabula; and four grandchildren.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; and an
infant daughter, Jackie Hayes.
There
will be no Calling Hours or Funeral Services. Cremation has taken place.

ROSE E. NEILL
KINGSVILLE - - Rose Evelyn Neill, age 89, died Tuesday, August
7, 2007, at the Villa at the Lake.
She was born Nov. 19, 1917, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the
late Percy and Louisa (Anderson) Neill. She had lived in the Kingsville/Conneaut
area most of her life.
Rose graduated from St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1940 and was the Director
of Nursing at Brown Memorial Hospital, retiring after 41 years of service.
She belonged to the Brown Memorial Hospital Pink Ladies, and was a life-long
member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsville.
In her leisure time, she also enjoyed knitting,
crocheting, and handcrafts.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Diane (Robert) Wilson of Twinsburg,
Ohio, Mary Lou Kaufman of Kirtland, Ohio, Gregory (Ruth) Neill of Columbus,
Ohio, Louise (Wayne) Good of Garfield Heights, Ohio, and William (Doreen)
Paulitzky of Florida; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; brother,
William (Sophia) Neill; and sisters, Elsie (Frank) Paulitzky and Ellen Neill in
infancy.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m.
on Friday, August 10, 2007, at the THOMPSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 345 Main St.,
Conneaut, with the Rev. David Hines, of the Kingsville First Baptist Church,
officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlake Cemetery in N. Kingsville.

EDGAR
C. BROWN
CONNEAUT - - Edgar "Sonny" C. Brown, age 72, of Main St., died
Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at his home.
He was born Dec. 10, 1934, in Conneaut, Ohio, to Edgar
and Virginia (Vibbard) Brown and has lived in Conneaut most of his life. Edgar
graduated from Conneaut High School in 1958. He enlisted in the United States
Army in 1953 and retired from the Army in 1976, after 22 years of service.
Working as a foreman for the Army Corps of Engineers,
he built floating bridges and served many years overseas. He served in Germany
from 1954-1956 and from 1960-1962, in Korea from 1964-1965 and from 1969-1970,
and also in Vietnam from 1966-1967.
Once he retired from the military, he attended Central
Texas College and in 1979 received an Associate Degree in History and English.
Sonny is survived by his longtime companion of 27 years, Florence Todd of
Conneaut; his mother, Virginia Brown of Kingsville; daughter, Sheryl Huntsman of
Lake City, Pa.; sons, Jesse Brown of Beach Grove, Alaska, and Kenneth Brown of
Raeford, Fla.; sister, Patricia (Duane) Anderson of Monroe; and brother, James
(Janice) Brown of Conneaut. He is also survived by Florence’s children and
grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar L. Brown,
and a sister, Nancy Brown in infancy.
Calling Hours will be held on Friday,
August 10, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the THOMPSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 345 Main
St. Conneaut.
Graveside Services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday,
August 13, 2007, at East Conneaut Cemetery, with Pastor Tim Kraus, of the
Conneaut Church of Christ, officiating. Military Rites will be performed by the
American Legion Cowel Post #151.

CONNEAUT - - Michael J. Marché, age
63, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Tuesday evening, Aug. 7, 2007, at the Cleveland
Clinic.
Born May 2, 1944, in Erie, Pa., he was the son of
Paul March%25E9 and Betty (Crook) Antill.
He was a Conneaut resident since 1978 and was
employed at General Aluminum. He also assisted Bob Sharp in the operation of his
business, Northeast Cycle Shop and enjoyed old cars, motorcycles, gun-collecting
and target-shooting.
Survivors include his wife, whom he married November
11, 1978, Diane L. (Lybrook) March%25E9; two sons, Paul (Trish) and Jeffery
(Cheryl) Turk, all of Erie, Pa.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his
sister, Angela March%25E9; and three brothers, Joseph March%25E9 of Orlando,
Fla., Paul (Rita) March%25E9 of Portland, Ore., and Martin March%25E9 of
Cleveland, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a
sister, Jannis Shriner.
Funeral Service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11,
2007, at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut,
Ohio.

CONNEAUT — Robert George Graf, Sr., age 84, of Conneaut, Ohio, passed away
Thursday afternoon, Aug. 23, 2007, at Ashtabula Co. Medical Center, following a
brief illness.
Born Dec. 8, 1922, in Burbank, Ohio, he was a son of
Franklin and Florence (Markel) Graf. He served in the U.S. Navy Air Force during
W.W.II and was shot down in the Sea of Japan. Bob married his wife of 60 years,
Esther Hetrick Graf, on July 3, 1947.
He retired in 1982, from the East Ohio Gas Company,
after working there for 38 years.
He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of
Conneaut, where he served in leadership roles as Deacon, Church Moderator, sang
in the choir and served on numerous committees. He was a very active member of
the International Order of Odd Fellows holding offices locally, statewide and
nationally. He was on the Board of Directors for the Odd Fellows Home in
Springfield, Ohio and most recently, as a member of the Uniform Branch with the
IOOF, held the position of General Commander of the World, as a four star
General. For many years, he was a member of the Odd Fellows Honor Guard, which
stood guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and was also a member of the
Salem Rebekah’s #385.
Bob was a Past Commander of the American Legion
Cowle Post #151, and was a Republican Committeeman. He served as a Conneaut City
Councilman and continued to spend most Monday evenings attending Council
meetings. He was an active member of the Conneaut Rotary Club and was a charter
member of Conneaut Optimist Club. He also served on the Conneaut Public Library
board, the Conneaut Recreation Boar, was a Trustee at Conneaut Fire Station #3
and was also a long time member of the Ashtabula County Town Choir.
Among his varied activities, he traveled to
California for three years to assist in the building of the Odd Fellows float
for the Rose Bowl Parade.
Bob was instrumental in many local projects,
including the construction of the boardwalk at Conneaut Township Park beach. He
and Leonard Dello were key persons in building the war memorial at Conneaut City
Hall and he also enjoyed helping to restore Ashtabula County covered bridges.
His many hobbies included golfing, bowling in
numerous leagues and crocheting. He made golf club covers, sweater vests,
slippers and stocking caps, which he enjoyed giving away and always carried dog
treats in his car to give out.
Survivors include his wife, Esther; six children,
Donita (Wendell) Jensen of Findlay, Ohio, Roberta Lou Brammer of Canton, Ohio,
Rebecca (Philip) Smith of Richmond, Va., Robert (Cyndi) Graf II of N.
Kingsville, Ohio, Tena (George) Robotham and Ronald (Barbara) Graf, both of
Elgin, Ill.; a sister, Betty Hartshorne of Wadsworth, Ohio; a brother, Raymond
(Corrine) Graf of Wooster, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and
one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one
brother, Harold Graf; and a granddaughter, Glenna Brammer.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27,
2007, at the First Baptist Church, 370 State St., Conneaut, with the Rev.
Jonathan Singer, pastor of the church, and Bob’s grandson, the Rev. Peter C.
Smith, pastor of Blackstone Presbyterian Church in Blackstone, Va., officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, N. Kingsville, Ohio.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9
p.m. Sunday Aug., 26, 2007, at the Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St.,
Conneaut, Ohio. The Odd Fellows will conduct a Memorial Service at 7:30 PM.
Additional time will be at the Church from 10 a.m.
until the time of Service, Monday, Aug. 27, 2007.

made to the Memorial Fund of First Baptist Church, Hospice of the Western

CONNEAUT — Harold J. “Mike” Richards, age 81, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Saturday
morning, August 25, 2007, at Inn-Conneaut Health Center.
Born April 25, 1926, in Ashtabula, Ohio, he was the
son of Miles J. and Lempi V. (Hakkarainen) Richards. A lifelong area resident,
he was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, serving during World War II.
Mr. Richards retired in 1991 after 30 years of
service at Foseco Metallurgical in Conneaut.
He was a member of East Conneaut United Methodist
Church, where he was an usher. He enjoyed all sports, especially baseball at any
level, playing horseshoes, fixing things, and gardening. He loved singing crazy
nursery rhymes to the grandchildren and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred “Millie” (Kultti)
Richards, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on July 5; his daughter,
Kathy Pierce of Concord Township, Ohio; two sons, Tim (Marcia) Richards of
Brecksville, Ohio, and Tom Richards of Conneaut; five grandchildren, Marissa,
Allison, and Kyle Richards, Kaari (Matt) Schroeder, and Robert Pierce; his
sister, Dorothy Hill of Madison, Ohio; and his brother, George Richards of
Conneaut, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister,
Ruth Albee; and three brothers, Marvin, Roy, and Harry Richards.
Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August
28, 2007, at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St.,
Conneaut, Ohio, with the Rev. Paula Marbury, pastor of East Conneaut United
Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North
Kingsville, Ohio, will Full Military Honors.
Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Monday,
August 27, 2007, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
