ESTHER L. BLANK
KINGSVILLE — Esther Louise Blank, age 83, of State Road, died Saturday,
January 29, 2005, at Jefferson Medical Associates.
She was born July 29, 1921 in Austinburg, OH, the daughter of Bert and Emma
(Swanson) Howe and had been a lifelong area resident.
A 1939 graduate of Kingsville High School, she was active in the Rebecca
Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star and the Sunshine Circle of Kingsville
Presbyterian Church, of which, she was a member. She enjoyed her flower garden,
crocheting, and taking care of her family.
Her survivors include her husband, Carl, whom she married March 1, 1942; four
children, James (Sandy) Blank of New Britain, CT, Jean (J.R.) Hooker of Queen
Creek, AZ, Raymond (Karen) Blank of Newport Ritchey, FL, and Fred (Peggy) Blank
of Palm Harbor, FL; twelve grandchildren, Brenda, Karen, Jay, Carl, Marjean,
Jane, Michael, Carrie, Matthew, Linda, Emma, and Sarah; nine
great-grandchildren; and one brother, Richard “Bud” Howe of Kingsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Service will be held 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2005, at Kingsville
Presbyterian Church, 3056 West Main Street, Kingsville. The Reverend
Bonnie Habbersett, Pastor of Kingsville Presbyterian Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, at a later date.

JANET E. SOWRY
KINGSVILLE — Janet E. Sowry, passed away on January 30, 2005, 51 years
after celebrating her 29th birthday.
She was born in Dorset, OH, the daughter of Anson and Katherine (Moschell) Sowry
and has been a lifetime area resident.
She taught business classes in the Buckeye Area School District until her
retirement.
She is a member of the Gageville United Methodist Church, where she had been the
financial secretary. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American
Colonist; the AARP, and various Retired Teachers Associations.
She enjoyed reading, cross word puzzles, Jig Saw Puzzles, and genealogy.
Surviving her are three brothers, Stanley (June) Sowry of Conneautville, PA,
Anson Sowry of Springboro, PA, and Lorren (Carol) Sowry of Kingsville; a
sister, Loretta (Jim) Colby of Sheffield Township; and 28 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Judson and Cress; and a
sister, Betty Monin.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, February 3, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Gageville
United Methodist Church, 4063 Route 193, in Sheffield Township, OH, with
Reverend David Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Gageville Cemetery in
Sheffield Township.
Calling Hours will be today, Wednesday, February 2, 2005, from 5 to 8 p.m. at
the ROSS-BILLMAN FUNERAL HOME, 526 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula.

RONALD E. KORKATE
LIMA, OH — Ronald E. Korkate, age 74, of Lima, OH, died early Monday afternoon,
January 31, 2005, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
Born December 9, 1930 in Ashtabula, OH, he was the son of the late Elmer Korkate
and Tyyne (Kuula) Korkate Michalak. He married Rhoda (Warg) Korkate on February
18, 1956.
Mr. Korkate was a registered nurse who retired after 30 years from the Oakwood
Forensic Center as Director of Nursing.
He was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church and its choir for many
years. He bowled on the Church league. He was a member of the Allen County
Senior Citizens, and the Masonic Lodge #22 Rising Sun F & AM in Ashtabula, OH.
Survivors include his wife, Rhoda Korkate of Lima; two sons, Matt (Carol)
Korkate of Hilliard, OH, and Rich (Bina) Korkate of Lima; five grandchildren,
Kevin Korkate, Troy Korkate, Alexis Korkate, Shanna Clark, and Ben Clark; and
three great-grandchildren, Alec Clark, Katie Clark, and Noah Clark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Marlene Ovak.
Graveside Service will be 3 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2005, at Greenlawn
Memory Garden Mausoleum, North Kingsville, OH, with visitation from 2 to 3
p.m.
Visitation will also be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2005, with a 5
p.m. Service to follow at CHAMBERLAIN-HUCKERIEDE FUNERAL HOME, 920 North Cable

LOUIS B. MCENDREE
ASHTABULA – Louis Bernard McEndree, 76, of E. Prospect Rd. died Sunday, January
30, 2005 at his home. He was born April 19, 1928 in Conneaut, the son of
Lawson B. and Mary Ann (Downey) McEndree and had been a lifelong area resident.
Prior to his retirement, he worked 24 years for the Ashtabula County Nursing
Home as the head of maintenance. He was previously an Operating Engineer for the
Operator’s Union, Local #18.
Louis had a kind and compassionate heart. A member of Mother of Sorrows Church,
he enjoyed people and loved cheering up the residents at Ashtabula County
Nursing Home. Known for his homemade chocolate fudge and canned garden
vegetables, he loved roller skating, dancing, gardening, the outdoors, and all
animals, especially his dog, John Doe.
His survivors include his wife, Rebecca (Rose), whom he married May 7, 1984;
eight children, Bernie (Janet), Charles (Kathy), and Louis John (Diana), all of
Ashtabula; Edmond and Calista, both of Conneaut, George (Debbie) of
Tampa, FL, Craig (Melanie) of Austintown, and Deborah of Colonial Heights, VA;
two step-children, Lisa (Mike) Champlin of Conneaut and Melissa (Tim)
Weber of N. Kingsville; 20 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and two
sisters, Monica Garvey of Ashtabula and Charlotte Louth of Escondido,
California.
He was preceded in death by six sisters, Francis Hautala, Ila M. Strong,
Margaret Hand, Elizabeth Zahm, Vivian Hall, and Helen Churchill; two brothers,
Charles and Algie McEndree; and his parents.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday, February 3, 2005 at the
Zaback-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 8 P.M. Thursday, February 3, 2005 at

LAKELAND, FL — Paul Isaac, age 90, of Lakeland, FL, died Monday, January 31,
2005.
Born in Bloomington, KY, he was a former resident of Charlestown, IN and
Conneaut, OH.
He was a former Maintenance Supervisor for Union Carbide.
Mr. Isaac was a member of College Heights United Methodist Church in Lakeland,
FL, and a life member, 50 year Mason: F & AM #655 Caney, KY.
Survivors include five sons, Walter D. Isaac of Otisco, IN, Franklin C. Isaac of
Charlestown, IN, Paul E. Isaac of Spring Hill, FL, and Larry W. Isaac and Jerry
L. Isaac, both of Lakeland, FL; a daughter, Mary Ruth Bidwell of Conneaut,
OH; three brothers, Basel and Patrick Isaac, both of Salyersville, KY, and
Melvin Isaac of Marysville, IN; two sisters, Emma Salyer of Middletown, KY, and
Garnet Reed of Charlestown, IN; and 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mr. Isaac will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 6,
2005, at the GRAYSON FUNERAL HOME in Charlestown, IN, with burial in Charlestown

CHRISTOPHER G. NOCE
CONNEAUT – Christopher G. Noce, age 58, of Conneaut, died Tuesday,
February 1, 2005 at his residence, following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Noce was born June 27, 1946 in Ashtabula, Ohio the son of the late, Christy
Noce and his mother, Mary Bruno Noce.
He was a 1964 graduate of St. John's High School and a former member of St.
Joseph Church in Ashtabula. He graduated from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio,
with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
He went on to work for many years as an industrial salesman in the Electronic
Components Market. Most recently he worked for Simcona Electronics in Rochester,
N.Y.,and formerly with Aesco Electronics in Akron, and Rem Electronics in
Warren, Ohio.
He was a past member of the Conneaut Chemical Abuse Team, (Conn Cat),
Citizens Task Force, Chairman of the legal Committe responsible for drafting a
comprehensive drug and alcohol Policy for Conneaut School System,
spearheaded the citizens for safe neighborhoods, past member of the Conneaut
Planning Commission, Elks Club and past chairman for the Conneaut Civil
Service Commission.
Chris loved and cherished his grandchildren and close friendships. He loved the
spirit of competition, from his passion for golf to the game of chess. He
enjoyed the creativity and relaxation of landscaping and most recently his 1956
classic Chevy.
Mr. Noce was preceded in death by his father; brother Jeffrey R. Noce; and
step-daughter, Michele Schreiber.
Chris is survived by his mother, Mary Bruno Noce of Ashtabula; his wife, Carole
(Tobias) Noce, whom he married June 6, 1979; a son, Gregory Noce of Seattle,
WA.; two daughters, Traci Lyne Hirata of Tacoma, WA, and Kimberly Niemi of
Conneaut; a sister, Terri & Ed Mansuy; and seven grandchildren; Hailey and
Zachary Hirata, Jared and Madison Niemi, and Mikenzie, Zachary and Lauren
Schreiber.
Mass of the Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5 at
St. Frances Cabrini Church, Conneaut, with Father Raymond Thomas officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.

BETTY M. CHIRO
WEST SPRINGFIELD, PENNSYLVANIA – Betty M. Chiro, age 78 of West
Springfield, PA, died Friday, February 4, 2005 at the Villa at the Lake in
Conneaut.
Betty was born June 14, 1926, in West Springfield, PA, the daughter of
Howard and Minnie (Neubauer) Brown. She graduated from West Springfield High
School. She was employed by the Northwestern School District as a driver,
transporting mentally retarded children to school.
Mrs. Chiro was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Conneaut. She also
was a member of the Springfield Service Circle, Jefferson Square Dancers and she
enjoyed quilting, ceramics, crafts and flower gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Francis Chiro in 2000.
Mrs. Chiro is survived by two daughters, Jeanne (Charles) Miller of Girard, PA,
and Mary Jo (Ben) Haranin of West Springfield, PA; three sons,
Howard (Kathy) Gibson of Albion, PA, Terry (Donna) Gibson of Kirtland, Ohio and
Michael (Jill) Chiro of Madison, Ohio; nine grandchildren and six great
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. at St. Frances
Cabrini Church, Conneaut, with Father Raymond Thomas officiating. Burial
will follow at East Springfield Cemetery.

CONNEAUT – Samuel Jesse Martin, 97, of Wrights Ave, died Friday February
4, 2005 at UHHS –Brown Memorial Hospital in Conneaut.
Born July 4, 1907 in Leon, WV, he was the son of Emery and Margaret (VanSickle)
Martin.
He served in US Army during WWII before being honorable discharged.
Mr. Martin owned and operated over a 100 acre farm for many years in WV.
Mr. Martin was a member of Pentecostal Church of God in which he was very
active. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, gardening, cooking, canning, his
grandchildren and his cats.
Survivors include two children; a daughter, Mary (Edward) Copeland of
Conneaut; a son, Samuel (Susan) Martin of Kennedale, TX; six grandchildren,
Christina Belz, David Ray, Ed Copeland, III, Timothy Copeland, Thomas Copeland,
Laurie Ann Daniel; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter Martin of Pliny,
WV; a sister, Mary Lovejoy of Charleston, WV.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Martin in 2000; a daughter, Alice
Martin in 1947; granddaughter, Kelly Ray in 1977; great-grandson, Derrick
Griffith in 1990; and his parents.

RALPH S. ABRAHAM JR.
GENEVA — Pastor Ralph S. Abraham Jr., 74, passed away in Geneva, OH, Saturday,
February 5, 2005. He was the founder of the Cornerstone of Faith Fellowship in
Conneaut, Ohio. He was born March 22, 1930, in Uniontown, PA, and was a
son of Ralph Sr. and Anna (Dayton) Abraham.
A 1948 graduate of New Castle (PA) High School, he studied mechanical
engineering at Youngstown State University. He reached the pinnacle of his
engineering career as president of Janco Machinery in Warren, OH. Upon his sale
of this business, he studied and entered his Christian ministry at Love Covenant
Church in Warren before moving to Geneva in 1990. He helped start Full Gospel
Businessmen in Warren and Ashtabula, and enjoyed his family, children and
grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta, of Geneva; two sons, R. Randal (Barbara)
Abraham of North Olmsted, OH, and Ralph S. Abraham III of Concord Township, OH;
a brother, Ronald Abraham of Largo, FL; four stepdaughters, Shari Newbould of
Brunswick, OH, Sheila McCartney of Jefferson, OH, and Shelly Hyrne and Melissa
Wilson, both of Madison, OH; 13 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two daughters, Rhonda and Denise
Cooke.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at the Marcy

WEST SPRINGFIELD, PA — Violet H. Palo, 88, of West
Springfield, PA, died Saturday, February 5, 2005, at Pleasant Ridge Manor West
in Fairview, PA. She was born June 27, 1916, in West Springfield and was a
daughter of Angelo and Rose (Desko) Vacco.
A lifelong West Springfield resident, Mrs. Palo was employed as salad department
manager at the Kahkwa Club. She held memberships in both the Federated Church of
East Springfield and Grace United Methodist Church of Albion. She enjoyed
crocheting, cooking, and being with her family.
Survivors include two sons, Jack R. Palo and Dennis L. (Patty) Palo of West
Springfield, PA; a brother, Arnold Vacco of Cleveland, OH; a sister, Lucille
Mulholland of Conneaut, OH; six grandchildren, David Palo, Steven, Mark
and Michael Holey, Jacob and James Palo; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jacob F. Palo, on March
1, 1986; her daughter, Dolores Holey; two sisters, Lillian Kamppi and Alta
Grady; and two brothers, Edwin Vacco and a baby brother at birth.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at the Marcy
Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH, with

ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA – Melissa Sulin Frimann, age 35 of Lockport, N.Y., died
Saturday, February 5, 2005 at Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania.
She was born May 22, 1969 in Ashtabula, the daughter of Robert and Karen (Young)
Sulin
Melissa was a resident of Ashtabula until 1981 before moving to New York. She
graduated in 1987 from Lew-Port High School in Lewiston, N.Y.
She is survived by her husband, David; daughter Jamie Duckett and son Cole
Frimann, all of Lockport, N.Y.; parents, Robert and Karen Sulin of Ashtabula;
brother, Justus Sulin of Geneva; sisters, Shannon Beckett of Pittman, N.J.,
Heather Nordgren of Norfolk, VA., Amanda Fisher of Conneaut and Rebecca Sulin of
Ashtabula, now stationed in Guam. Melissa is also survived by her extended
family, the Lundgrens of Conneaut.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Beth Lundgren; grandparents, Thora Lopet,
Earl Young and Lauri and Esther Sulin.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9 at the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints, 571 W. Seven Hills Rd., Ashtabula. Bishop Rodney
Rodriguez will officiate.
Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Conneaut at a later date.

FRED A. KERCHER III
MONROE – Fred A. Kercher III, 59 of Monroe Township, died Monday morning,
February 7, 2005 at Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA.
He was born February 19, 1945 in Conneaut, and was the son of Fred A. and
Annabelle (Brewster) Kercher.
A 1963 graduate of Conneaut High School, Mr. Kercher attended Citadel
Military College in Charleston, SC.
He taught at Rowe Middle School for a year, then began work at Exomet in the lab
and progressed to plant manager for twenty years. He finished his career in
management and sales at Elkem.
Mr. Kercher was an avid bow hunter, gun enthusiast, fisherman and participated
in competition archery. He loved to garden both vegetables and flowers. He loved
animals, especially his dogs and cats. He was a great sports fan, enjoying the
Cleveland Browns and the Conneaut High School team. He coached the
Conneaut team one year, with enthusiasm. He enjoyed woodworking and built
his own home, as well as many projects. The last was a bright red sleigh for his
granddaughter. He was well-versed in spiritual studies, and was devoted to his
family.
Survivors include his wife Carol (Grey) Slocum Kercher, whom he married Feb. 29,
1992; his daughter Gretchen (Brian) Vona of Erie, PA; two stepsons, Daniel Carl
Slocum and Brian Kevin Slocum, both of Ashtabula; his sister Faith Sherry of
Conneaut and his granddaughter Olivia Gianna Vona of Erie, PA. More distant
relatives also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11 at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND
CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut with the Rev. David Anderson,
pastor of Gageville United Methodist Church officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

DELORES J. SCHOR
CONNEAUT – Delores J. Schor, 74 of Conneaut, died Friday, January
28, 2005 at the home of her daughter in North Kingsville, following a
lengthy illness.
She was born June 5, 1931 in Ashtabula and was a daughter of Charles A. and
Alice L. (Kuhn) Jerauld.
A 1949 Conneaut High School graduate, she was employed as a billing clerk
at the former Rexall Drug Store and Gerdes Pharmacy in Conneaut. She was
active in the community in many capacities including volunteer at the library,
P.T.O., Animal Protective League advocate and a supporter of the Food Pantry.
She enjoyed baking, reading, gardening and caring for animals.
Survivors include her husband Joseph Schor of Conneaut; her children,
Diana Spencer of Conneaut, Jo Anne (Gregory) Morris of North
Kingsville, Richard (Debbie) Schor of Conneaut and Denise (Carl)

Presbyterian Church, 4317 Park Ave., Ashtabula with the Rev. Dr. Stephen R. Long
officiating. A time of fellowship will follow in the church hall.

CONNEAUT — Irene I. Olson, age 87, of Lake Erie Street, Conneaut,
OH, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005, in St. Vincent Health Center, Erie, PA.
Born in Conneaut on September 21, 1917, she was the daughter of the late
Frank and Mary Bradley and had resided here her entire life.
Mrs. Olson was employed by the General Electric, Conneaut Base Plant, as
a molder and retired after 30 years of service.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and in her leisure time, enjoyed doing
crossword puzzles and bowling.
Survivors include her son, Richard Rantamaki of Conneaut; three
step-daughters, Barbara Jean Wilson of Chicago, IL, Nancy Dombroski of Phoenix,
AZ, and Mary Louise Rosa of California; a sister, Delores Ring of Ashtabula; and
several grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Toivo
Rantamaki; her second husband, Alfred Olson; a sister, Margaret Fedor; and a
brother, Ed Rigo.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2005, at the
THOMPSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 345 Main Street, Conneaut, OH, with the
Reverend Raymond Thomas, pastor of St. Mary’s Church, officiating.
Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. It was the request of the

GENEVA – Martha M. Fellows Moores, 78, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005 at her home.
Born in Conneaut on Jan. 31, 1927, she was the daughter of Jesse C. and
Hazel (Smith) Hope.
She spent all of her life in Ashtabula Co., and spent winter months in St.
Augustine, Fl.
She had worked as a machinist at True Temper in Saybrook; was a member of the
Church of the Living God in Ashtabula and also worked at Conneaut Creamery.
Martha enjoyed photography.
Survivors include four daughters: Barbara (Charles) Sesler, Jefferson, Patricia
(Arthur) Brown, Geneva, Sharon (Andrew) Matyus, W. Bloomfield, MI and Sandra
(Leroy) Fromknecht, Ashtabula; one son, Vernon (Linda) Fellows, Painesville; six
grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Fellows; second husband,
Edward Moores; her parents; three grandchildren; seven brothers, Robert, Lloyd,
Richard, Ralph, Harold, Earl and Norman.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 at the WALKER FUNERAL HOME,

WANDA PAZDZIORKO
CONNEAUT — Wanda Pazdziorko, age 85, formerly of Bushnell, died
Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at her residence in Yuma, Arizona.
Mrs. Pazdziorko was born September 16,1919 in Exeter, PA, the daughter of Lewis
and Regina (Pientka) Pazdziorko. She attended high school in Pennsylvania and
during W.W.II she worked for White Motors in Cleveland.
Later, she was employed with General Electric in Erie, PA. In 1952 she worked
for the former Astatic Corporation in Conneaut as an Assembler and later retired
from the Conneaut school system as a custodian. During that same time,
she also ran the family farm in Bushnell with her late husband, John Pazdziorko.
Wanda was a member of St. Mary Church in Conneaut, and St. John Newman in
Yuma, AZ. She was also a member of the Polish Ladies Society, the Monroe Sirens,
and was one to be very meticulous with her lawn and home. Several years ago she
moved to Arizona for health reasons.
Mrs. Pazdziorko was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; two
sisters, Katherine Tirpak and Mary Kondrasky; and two brothers, Frank Pazdziorko
and Chester Pazdziorko.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara and Adam Paziorko of Louisville, KY
and Bernadette Skank of Yuma, AZ; one granddaughter, Naomi Paziorko of St.
Louis, MO; and nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2005, at
1:30 p.m. at St. Mary Church, Conneaut, with Father Raymond Thomas officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph's
Cemetery, Conneaut.
Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2005, from 11:30 a.m. to 1

CHARLES E. WEBBER
ERIE — Charles E. Webber, 79, of West Springfield, PA, died Friday evening at
St. Vincent’s Health Center in Erie where he had been a patient Wednesday. A
lifelong resident of West County, Mr. Webber was born on April 7, 1925 in North
Girard, PA a son of the late Andy and Hattie (Bennett) Webber.
Although disabled a number of years ago, Mr. Webber enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include four sons, Charles E. Jr. and wife Ida of Erie, PA, Lawrence
D. and wife Susan of Conneaut, OH, Dennis K. Sr. and wife Joy of East
Springfield, PA, and Kenneth J. of Girard, PA. Also surviving are
ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his brother William and wife Doris
of Decatur, Georgia and numerous more distant relatives.
Mr. Webber was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lucille Oct. 29, 1989;
children, Susan Webber and Stephen Webber and fourteen brother and sisters,
Marie Davies, Florence Randall, Ada Baker, Harriet Aven, Mildred Gable, Arlene
Ream, Ellsworth, Floyd, Wilson, Lee, and James Webber and three infant brothers.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, February 16, at MARCY FUNERAL

February 13, 2005 in Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan. She was born
October 31, 1930 in Conneaut to the late Oval Yates and Mildred (nee Eaton)
Carpenter.
Lois resided in Conneaut most of her life, and lived the past three years
in Taylor, Michigan. She was a member of the First Assembly of God, and was
employed by Inn-Conneaut Health Center as a dietitian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, two sisters, Doris Yates
and Joyce Murkens, and one brother Roy Yates.
Survivors include a daughter, Dee Etta (Steve) Casey of Redford, Michigan; a
son, Michael (Lori) Long of Taylor, Michigan; and four Grandchildren, Kimberly
Schnieder, Stephen Casey, Andrew Long and Emily Long.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the
Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Conneaut, with the Rev.
Donald Matthews, pastor of the First Assembly of God, officiating.

M. EDWARD JACK
PIERPONT – M. Edward Jack, 93 of Pierpont, passed away Wednesday
evening, February 16, 2005 at the Jefferson Geriatrics Center in Jefferson.
Mr. Jack was born Nov. 25, 1912, in Hillsdale, Michigan, the son of Walter and
Gertrude (Warren) Jack and has been a life long resident of Pierpont.
Mr. Jack was employed in the insurance business and was also a self employed
farmer for many years, retiring in 1976.
Ed was a life member of the Pierpont Presbyterian Church, Relief Lodge
284 F&AM of Pierpont, Royal Arch Masons-Jefferson Chapter 141,
Conneaut Council 40, Cache Commandery 27, Ohio Priory 18, Orion Chapter 12
O.E.S., Sheffield-Star Grange, Pamona, State and National Grange.
Survivors include his wife Hazel M. (Hayes), whom he married June 12, 1943 in N.
Kingsville; sons, Charles W. (Linda M.) of Columbus and James E. (Penny)
of Jefferson; daughter Karen M. (Ron) Rang of Ashtabula; grandchildren, Darcie
Sanford Moseley, Raymond P. Sanford, David I. Jack, Steven Jack, Rigo Jack; step
grandson Gilbert Korka; great grandchildren, Tessa E. Moseley, Benjamn R.

CONNEAUT – Joan E. Arcaro, 75, of Old Main Road, Conneaut, died
Saturday morning at the Villa at the Lake following a short illness. A
Conneaut resident all of her life, Mrs. Arcaro was the daughter of the late
Hal B. and Ida (Cobb) Tyler. She was a graduate of Conneaut High School
and primarily a homemaker, enjoying eating out with friends and writing both to
pen-pals and poetry. She was a member of St. Mary Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Toni Gildone of Jaffrey, N.M. and Joni Arcaro
of Conneaut; a son Vincent Gildone of Conneaut; two grandchildren, Hadley Green
of Jaffrey and Tyler Gildone of Conneaut. A brother Hal C. Tyler of
Scottsdale, Arizona also survives.
Mrs. Arcaro was preceded in death by her husband Anthony A. Arcaro on January 6,
2004 and her parents.
At Mrs. Arcaro’s request there will be no calling hours or funeral. Memorial
contributions may be given to the Activity Fund of the Villa at the Lake.

CONNEAUT – Kera Louise (Jones) Staudacher, 21 of Conneaut, died
Sunday evening, February 20, 2005 at University Hospital in Cleveland of cystic
fibrosis.
She was born May 6, 1983 in Conneaut, and was the daughter of Jerald
Jones and Kimberly Finlaw.
Mrs. Staudacher was employed in the dietary department at The Villa At The Lake
and was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a 2001 graduate of Conneaut
High School where she participated in cross country, choir and band, in which
she also served as majorette. Because of her diagnosis, she volunteered for
several medical studies being done with C.F.
Surviving Kera are her husband Paul F. Staudacher, whom she married Jan. 25,
2005; her parents, Jerald (Tammie) Jones of Conneaut and Kimberly Finlaw
of Lufkin, Texas; her sister Amanda E. Jones of Conneaut; two
stepbrothers, Robert and Michael Renn, both of Conneaut; her maternal
grandmother Betty FInlaw of Espyville, Pennsylvania and her paternal
grandparents William and Harriet Jones of Conneaut.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather Gordon F. Finlaw, Sr.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24 at MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND
CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut with Rev. Carson Robson,
associate pastor of Conneaut Church of God, officiating.
Burial will be in East Conneaut Cemetery.

the daughter of Keith R. Pleat and Evelyn (Metzger) Eaton.
Mrs. Bowers was baptized Catholic, and enjoyed bingo, computer games, and
knitting.
Survivors include her husband of 22 years, James H. Bowers; her mother Evelyn
(Larry) Eaton of Conneaut, OH; two daughters, Rebecca (Donald) Bowers of
Conneaut and Jennifer (Joseph Rought) Reed of Conneaut, OH; two sons,
Kevin (Jacqualine) Reed of Albion, PA, and Robert Reed of Conneaut, OH; a
sister, Darlene McDonald of Elmyra, NY; a brother, Richard Pleat of Cleveland,
OH; 11 Grandchildren; and 2 great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, and two brothers, Rolland Pleat and

MONROE TWP — LAWRENCE E. SCHREIBER, 62, of Root Road, Monroe Township,
died Friday evening at UHHS Brown Memorial in Conneaut shortly after
being admitted.
An area resident since childhood, Mr. Schreiber was born in Cleveland on August
19, 1942 a son of the late Arthur L. and Alma (Friedel) Schreiber. For nearly 40
years he had been employed in the same building, in Conneaut with the
former Allied Resinous, Norton Plastics and Spartec where he worked in the
shipping department. He enjoyed stockcar racing, playing bingo, fishing and
hunting and evening rides spotting deer.
Survivors include his wife the former Betty Carbaugh whom he married on March 7,
1962; two daughters Janet (David) Peters and Lynnette (Doug) Peters Schreiber
both of Saegertown, Pa; a son Mark (Amanda) Schreiber of Conneaut; eight
grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ann Rippin of Painesville and Margaret Rudler
of N.C. and five brothers Arthur of Oregon, Joseph, Robert, and William all of
Conneaut and Howard of California
Mr. Schreiber was preceded in death by his parents; two children Janet and
Edward in 1971 and a sister Virginia Lewis.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Marcy Funeral Home and
Cremation Center, 208 Liberty street Conneaut with the Rev. Richard Smith
of the Monroe United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in
Greenlawn. Calling hours will be on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the

She enjoyed sewing, crafts, baking, crossword puzzles, and spending time with

both of Ashtabula, and Jan (Karen) Kapen of Torrance, CA; seven grandchildren,

She was preceded in death by her sister, Maryann Drought-Hepler; and her
parents.
A service will be held Wednesday March 2, 2005, at 11:00 A.M. at the Ducro
