ELEANOR S. BAILEY
CONNEAUT - - Eleanor S. "Dolly" Bailey, age 83, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Friday morning, September 29, 2006, at The Villa At The Lake, where she had been a resident for the last three years.
She was born August 25, 1923, in Conneaut, and was the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Mallick) Moroski.
Mrs. Bailey had been employed at Conneaut General Electric Base Plant.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and had also lived in Mesa, Arizona, and was a longtime race fan. She also was an avid homemaker and created a lovely home.
Survivors include her son, Gary Atkins of Arizona; two grandsons; three sisters, Mary C. Spink of Conneaut, Ohio, and Francis Shirkman and Florence Baker, both of California; her brother, Ed Moroski of Conneaut; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Harold Atkins in 1964; her second husband, Tony "Buck" Bailey; a sister, Ann Curtis; and a brother, Joe Moroski.
A Memorial Service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty Street, Conneaut, Ohio, with the Reverend Raymond Thomas, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Frances Cabrini Church, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Church Capital Campaign, the Salvation Army, or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.

SANDUSKY - - John E. Eden, age 59, formerly of Green and Burton, Ohio, died Friday evening, September 29, 2006, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio, after a lengthy illness.
Born October 6, 1946, in Green, Ohio, he was a son of the late William and Marian (Pike) Eden and was a resident of Burton from 1969 to 1995. He was a graduate of Maplewood School in Mecca, Ohio.
A Veteran of the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969, he served in Vietnam and was a decorated Veteran. He was a machinist at Stock Equipment in Bainbridge, Ohio, for 10 years.
Mr. Eden was a member of the American Legion Post 459 in Burton, Disabled American Veterans, Middlefield VFW Post 9678, and Vietnam Veterans Association.
Survivors include four sons, Joseph (Annette) Eden of Newbury, John Eden of Columbus, Jack Eden of Middlefield, and Carey (Stacey) Eden of Kent; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, William (Iona) Eden of Middlefield, and Thomas (Catherine) Eden of North Kingsville; and a half brother, Jack, and a half sister, Jane.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at the RUSSELL GOLDEN RULE FUNERAL SERVICE, 15670 West High Street, (Route 87), Middlefield, Ohio. Burial will be in South Cemetery in Orwell, Ohio.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at the Funeral Home.

 LAWRENCE H. SOLTIS
MONROE TOWNSHIP - - Lawrence H. "Larry" Soltis, age 85, of Monroe Township, died Monday morning, October 2, 2006, following a short illness.
He was born April 20, 1921, in Monroe Township, and was the son of Andrew and Anna (Fobean) Soltis.
Mr. Soltis was employed at Pittsburgh Steamship Lines for 13 years; was half-owner of "Marine Cafe" for 11 years; and worked for Great Lakes Towing for 28 years as a Marine Engineer. During World War II, he was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Mr. Soltis was a member of St. Mary Church, the Moose Club for more than 50 years, the U.S. Power Squadron, Monroe Athletic Club, and was a charter member of the Western Great Lakes Historical Society in Toledo.
He enjoyed yard work, scuba diving, and being around or on the water.
Survivors include three brothers, Raymond P. Soltis of Conneaut, Ohio, John J. (Jane) Soltis of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Robert F. (Shirley) Soltis of Erie, Pennsylvania; and a number of nieces, nephews, and more distant relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mary R. Soltis, Helen P. Soltis, and Delores C. Sedor; and eight brothers, Joseph, Paul, Albert, Bernard, Rudolph, Adam, Edward, and Thomas Soltis.
Family Graveside Service will be Thursday, October 5, 2006, in St. Joseph Cemetery, Conneaut, Ohio, with the Reverend Raymond Thomas, pastor of St. Mary Church and St. Frances Cabrini Church, officiating.

DAVID N. WARDROP
ASHTABULA - - David N. Wardrop, age 39, of Ashtabula, Ohio, died Sunday, October 1, 2006.
David was born April 8, 1967, in Parma, Ohio, the son of Terrance and Anna Rose Wardrop. He was a graduate of Conneaut High School, Class of 1985, and also attended the Vo-Ed School. He went to Technical School for Heavy Duty Equipment and later went to work for the Local 18 Engineers and Operators Union.
He currently was working for Geneva PipeLine as a heavy-duty operator, running bulldozers, backhoes and graders.
He enjoyed putting together Harley Davidson Motorcycles models and fishing. He loved spending time with friends and family and was always the life of the party.
David is preceded in death by his father, Terrance Wardrop, in 1998; his paternal grandparents, Tom and Bertha Wardrop; and his maternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Rose.
Dave is survived by his mother, Anna Rose Wardrop; two children, Jaimie Wardrop and Holli Wardrop, both of Conneaut; his former wife, Trudy Worgan; three brothers, Terry and Stephanie Wardrop of Madison, Ohio, Robert Wardrop and fiancée, Aida Paneto, both of Conneaut, and Timothy Wardrop of Wisconsin; two sisters, Kathy and Fred Ellerkamp of Conneaut, and Tammy and Steven Steele of Conneaut; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2006, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Conneaut, with Father Raymond Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Conneaut.

RICHARD D. DELANEY

CONNEAUT - - Richard Dale Delaney, age 76, of Conneaut, Ohio, died at home Sunday evening, October 1, 2006.
He was born December 10, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio, and was the son of Richard J. and Adele (Bliss) Delaney. He served as a radar technician with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Delaney held a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Kent State University and a Bachelor of Business from Toledo University. He began his career as a geologist/ chemist with The Glidden Company in Baltimore, Maryland, moved to Conneaut 38 years ago, and retired in 1991 as Process Engineer from the former SCM Corporation (Millennium Chemicals, Inc.) in Ashtabula.
His various interests included history, politics, environmental issues, cross-country skiing, bicycling, and gardening.
Mr. Delaney held several patents for his inventions, and operated his former business "Mitski." He was a noted area artist, painting and sculpting with various media. An avid musician, he enjoyed jazz and classical music, playing both the piano and bass, and was a member of the Northeast Ohio Jazz Society. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed billiards, sailing, and was a member of the Lake Erie Boat Club. He held a special interest in the Great Lakes weather and served as a volunteer weather observer for the National Weather Service.
He was devoted to his family. Survivors include his wife, Virginia "Ginny" (Grocott) Delaney, whom he married June 1, 1957; two daughters, Molly Delaney (Jim Kosarik) of Cleveland, Ohio, and Katy Delaney (Bill Conklin) of Geneva, Ohio; two sons, Dan (Marcy) Delaney of Pinckney, Michigan (grandson, Eric Delaney), and Tim Delaney of Erie, Pennsylvania; and his cousin, Tom (Shirley) Felhaber of Ashtabula, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents.
At Mr. Delaney’s request, there will be no visitation or services held. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Conneaut Community Center for the Arts, 1025 Buffalo Street, Conneaut, Ohio 44030. JOHN G. NELSON
NORTH KINGSVILLE - - John G. Nelson, age 72, of North Main Street, North Kingsville, Ohio, died Thursday, October 5, 2006, at his home.
He was born April 16, 1934, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the son of Peter and Pearl (Myhre) Nelson. A graduate of Ashtabula High School, he married Manette Kenerr on August 1, 1953.
Before retiring, he was employed at Nelson Machine and Manufacturing and Rockwell Brake.
He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church of Ashtabula; was the manager of the Ashtabula Rubber Company American Legion baseball team for 28 years, and in 1963, they won the state American Legion championship. He was a avid golfer, playing at Village Green and Erie Shores Golf Courses, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving him are his wife; five children, Wendy (Michael) Kortyka of North Kingsville, Paul (Belinda) Nelson of Cortland, Ohio, James (Virginia) Nelson of Alexandria, Virginia, Janna (Richard) Schupska of North Kingsville and Monroe Nelson of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, William Nelson of Williamsfield, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Nelson; and three sisters, Virginia Ney, Margaret Howe and Carol Koepnick.

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2006, at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 615 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Reverend Elizabeth Eaton officiating.

CONNEAUT - - Sara A. Ryan, age 21, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pennsylvania, of injuries sustained in a traffic accident.
She was born August 27, 1985, in Conneaut, and was the daughter of Lyle Ryan and Teresa (Bowers) Kotomski.
A Conneaut High School graduate and lifelong resident of Conneaut, Sara was employed at Domino’s Pizza, and attended the Church of God.
In her early years, she enjoyed fishing and was a wonderful mother to her children.
Sara leaves behind her daughter, Helana Ann Helmbright, and son, Gavin Daniel Riggs, both at home. Also surviving are her mother and step-father, Teresa and Ray Kotomski of Pierpont, Ohio; her father, Lyle Ryan of Conneaut, Ohio; two brothers, Roy Lovin and Joshua Ryan, both of Conneaut; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bowers of Conneaut; her paternal grandmother, Thelma Fromknecht of Conneaut; paternal grandfather, Willard Ryan of Warren, Ohio; maternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bowers of Conneaut, and Howard Crandall of Davenport, Florida.

GEORGE H. NORMAN
ASHTABULA - - George Harold Norman, age 87, died Saturday, October 7, 2006, at Carington Park.
He was born on November 10, 1919, in New Milford, Connecticut, the son of Lafayette and Alice (Wilmont) Snyder, and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1940.
Prior to his retirement as rank Captain in 1980, he worked for the Pinkerton Detective Agency. He had also worked as a maintenance foreman for the Ashtabula County Road Department.
He loved country music and could play any string instrument, as well as the piano.
Mr. Norman served his country as a Veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include three children, Roger D. Norman, Lillian (Douglas) Coursen, and Edna Houghton, all of Ashtabula; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including Viola (Herb) Canter of Jefferson, Thelma Brown and Catherine Shineman, both of Independence, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane (Scott), on January 3, 1978; two sons, David C. Norman and George Taggart; one granddaughter, Lynda Mary Coursen; one brother, Daniel Stanley Snyder; one sister, Evelyn Marion Coutts; his stepfather, Frank Norman; and his parents.
A service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2006, at the Greenlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 3140 East Center Street, (State Route 20), North Kingsville. Reverend Jerry Webb, Pastor of the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene, will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenlawn with Full Military Honors.

ELIZABETH E. OCSHIER
CONNEAUT - - Elizabeth "Betty" E. Ocshier, age 85, of Cummins Avenue, died Sunday, October 8, 2006, at the UH-Conneaut Medical Center.
She was born in Conneaut, Ohio, November 6, 1920, the daughter of the late C. Arthur and Frances M. (Miller) Harrington. She had resided in Conneaut most of her life. For the past year and a half, she had resided at the Villa At The Lake. She was a graduate of Ohio University, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.
Mrs. Ocshier was employed by the Conneaut Area City Schools, and retired as an elementary teacher after many years of service.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and playing Bingo. She was an avid pet lover and especially loved her dogs.
She is survived by her two daughters, Judy (Roger) Sterling and Barbara Ocshier, both of Conneaut; three granddaughters, Lisa Sterling of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Kelsey Sterling of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Sarah Sterling of Conneaut.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James E. "Butch" Ocshier, whom she married June 5, 1948; and a brother, Robert J. Harrington.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2006, at the THOMPSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 345 Main Street, Conneaut, with Lay Pastor Joyce Shellhammer, of the North Kingsville Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in East Springfield Cemetery.

ALTON A. JANSON
CONNEAUT - - Alton A. Janson, age 90, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Tuesday morning, October 10, 2006, at UH Conneaut Medical Center.
He was born November 1, 1915, in East Trumbull, Ohio, and was a son of August and Ida (Norton) Janson.
A Conneaut resident since 1937, Mr. Janson was employed for 39 years as trainmaster for the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad, retiring in 1976.
He was a member of East Conneaut United Methodist Church, and Evergreen Lodge #222 F & AM and was a 32nd degree Mason. Mr. Janson was active in CLYO, and was instrumental in re-naming his street "Senator St." because of his team, "The Senators." He was an avid golfer, had made three holes-in-one, and also enjoyed bowling and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, June E. (Suttles) Janson, whom he married October 28, 1939; his daughter, Holly Brown of Conneaut; two sons, Michael Janson of North Canton, Ohio, and Theodore Janson of Poquoson, Virginia; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Margaret Janson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Katherine Szakaly of Kingsville, Ohio; and a brother, Blair Janson of Columbus, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Frances Weaver; two brothers, Harold and Willis Janson; and a grandson, Mark Janson.
A Memorial Gathering to honor Al will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 12, 2006, at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty Street, Conneaut, Ohio. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.

CONNEAUT - - Jeaninne F. Simone, age 68, formerly of Conneaut, Ohio, died Sunday morning, October 8, 2006, at Gateway Health Care Center, Euclid, Ohio, following a lengthy illness.
She was born September 30, 1938, in Union City, Pennsylvania, and was a daughter of John and Dorothy (Stough) Helberg.
Mrs. Simone was a Conneaut High School graduate, and assisted her husband in the operation of the former Simone’s Golden Dawn.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she was active with the L.Y.F. and the Quilters Guild; and while her children were in school, she was also active in the Conneaut Music Boosters. She enjoyed her family, friends, and her animals.
Survivors include her daughter, Devona K. Simone of Euclid, Ohio; her son, Louis J. Simone of Sylvania, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Emily, Chloe, and Lily Simone.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph V. Simone in 1992, and her brother, David Helberg.

JOSEPHINE M. OSBORNE
CONNEAUT - - Josephine M. "Jo" Osborne, age 81, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Wednesday afternoon, October 11, 2006, at Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pennsylvania, following a short illness.
     She was born November 1, 1924, in Ashtabula, Ohio, and was a daughter of George and Ethel (Schlafhy) Broughton. A 1942 graduate of Edgewood High School, Mrs. Osborne was a lifelong area resident.
She had been employed as a bookkeeper and payroll clerk at former car dealerships, Emhoff Motors, Lillie-Holden Ford, and Cordas Ford, and retired from U.S.I. Credit Union.
     She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a former officer of the American Business Women’s Association Chalice Chapter. Mrs. Osborne was active in local politics, serving as precinct judge and former treasurer of the Conneaut Republican Party. She was also a member of the Gray Ladies at Brown Memorial Hospital, worked in the gift shop, and served as volunteer coordinator.
     She was a past president, and was currently serving as treasurer, of the Rebekah Assembly of Ohio; treasurer of Department Association of Ohio; a member and past president of Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Militant; and treasurer of Lake #37 Auxiliary Patriarch Militant. She was financial secretary and past president of Conneaut Salem Rebekah Lodge #385, having held all of the chapter’s offices. She had also been advisor of Theta Rho, State of Ohio.
      Mrs. Osborne is survived by her daughter, Denise J. Osborne of Mesa, Arizona; two sons, Keith S. and wife, Susan Osborne, of Plainfield, Illinois, and Robert O. "Buzz" and wife, Cheryl Osborne, of Conneaut, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otis C. Osborne, in 1995; and all of her brothers and sisters, Helen R. Williams, Mercedes Nelson, Flora Speer, Mary Rath, Ethel Pelow, Urda Kovach, Marguerite Brock, William (Homer) Broughton, George Broughton, and Reginald Broughton.
     Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, October 14, 2006, at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty Street, Conneaut, Ohio, with the Reverend Chuck Graham, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. MADELEINE R. WILLIAMS
CONNEAUT - - Madeleine R. Williams, age 93, of Lake Road, Conneaut, Ohio, died at her home Thursday, October 12, 2006.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois, January 28, 1917, the daughter of the late Antone and Jeanne (DePrince) Reper. She had resided in Conneaut since 1980, prior to that she made her home in Mattson, Illinois for over 30 years.
Mrs. Williams was of the Catholic Faith. She was employed as the office manager of her husbands painting and decorating business for many years.
In her leisure time she enjoyed reading and needlepoint, and was an avid golfer.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Madeleine is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles D. Williams in 2003; and a sister, Yvonne Thompson.
Following cremation, a Memorial Service will be held at the THOMPSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 345 Main Street, Conneaut, Ohio, at date and time to be announced. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.

TRACY L. WALKER
CONNEAUT - - Tracy L. Walker, age 39, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Saturday morning, October 14, 2006, following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 4, 1967, in Erie, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of Douglas L. and Nancy (Smith) Batchelor.

A graduate of South Ridge Christian Academy, Tracy was a member of First Baptist Church where she served as pianist, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, and was a member of the choir and Christian Education Board.

She was past president and vice president of the Conneaut Exchange Club. She enjoyed working with children and helped with the Soapbox Derby.

She often provided dinner for the school teachers, and loved watching her children’s games, shopping, cooking and entertaining. Tracy loved life, people, and all children. She was never one to complain.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Walker; two sons, Jared Douglas Walker and Thomas Cole Walker, both at home; her daughter, Payton MacKenzie Walker at home; two step-daughters, Wendy and Whitney Walker of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; her parents of Conneaut, Ohio; her sister, Wendy (Brian) DuBey of Pierpont, Ohio; four brothers, Chris Wiggins of Conneaut, Ohio, Mark Batchelor of Glenburnie, Maryland, Rod Batchelor of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Thomas Batchelor serving with the U.S. Air Force in Lakenheath, England; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Marcia Walker of New Castle, Pennsylvania; and two uncles, Larry Howard of Mesa, Arizona, and Jake Smith of Conneaut, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Tom and Isla Howard, and a cousin, Donald "Dutch" Smith.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2006, at First Baptist Church, 370 State Street, Conneaut, with the Reverend Jonathon Singer officiating.

CARL E. RICHARDS

CONNEAUT - - Carl E. Richards, age 78, of Lake Road, Conneaut, Ohio, died Monday, October 16, 2006, at UH-Conneaut Medical Center.
He was born December 18, 1927, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of the late Maurice and Opal (Mallory) Richards, and had lived in Conneaut since 1951. Mr. Richards was a graduate of Spencer School in Geneva, and married to the former Mattie Brown on December 6, 1947, in Perry, Ohio. He was a World War II Veteran, serving with the Army Air Corps as a staff sergeant and meteorologist in the Philippines.
He spent 43 years as a service technician for the former East Ohio Gas Company, retiring in 1987.
He was an avid bowler and enjoyed coaching little league baseball at CYLO. He was instrumental in moving the CYLO GE Fields to the current location at Skippon Field, where he spent many hours improving the area.
His interests included building and repairing racing boats. He had been a student pilot at Jefferson Airport and he and his son, Chuck, were in the process of building a two-seater airplane, "The Dragonfly". He and his wife also enjoyed gardening.
Carl was a member of the First Baptist Church in Conneaut, serving at one time as Sunday School Superintendent. He later joined the Conneaut Church of God where he was a member of the men’s group and also an usher.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. The family will cherish the memories of their Sunday dinners following church services.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 plus years, Mattie; four children, Jim (Anne) Richards, Chuck (Carol) Richards, and Barbara Hayes, all of Conneaut, and Janis (Paul) Locke of Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Richards was preceded in death by his parents ,and his son-in-law, Charles E. Hayes, Sr.
Calling Hours will be held Thursday, October 19, 2006, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Conneaut Church of God, 5327 Center Road, Conneaut, Ohio, followed by Services with the Reverend Raymond Lamb. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, where Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Cowle Post 151.

CONNEAUT - - Margaret (Cardamone) Walker, age 86, of Conneaut, died Thursday, October 19, 2006, at the UH Conneaut Medical Center.
Margaret was born June 10, 1920, in Dayton, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Catherine Kuntz and Michael Cardamone.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 1994; a daughter, Kathy Grice in 1970; a granddaughter, Donna McLaughlin in 2002; a daughter in infancy; a sister, Mary Blasko, and brothers, Louis, Anthony, John, William, and Angelo Cardamone.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Patricia (James) Jones of Conneaut; a brother, Frank Cardamone of Philadelphia; six grandchildren, Karen Rood of Painesville, Terry Grice of California, Jeff Grice of Las Vegas, Nevada,Tracy Marvin, and Kathy Fuller, both of Conneaut; nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date at the convenience of her family.  

No calling hours will be observed. At Mrs. Walker’s request, she has donated her body to Case Western Reserve School of Medicine.

ALFRED L. CHAMPLIN
CONNEAUT - - Alfred L. Champlin, age 86, of Lake Rd., Conneaut, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2006, at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Born August 18, 1920, the son of the late Oren E. and Anne Charlotte (Michaels) Champlin.
He was a graduate of Rowe High School, the class of 1939.
Mr. Champlin sailed on the Great Lakes for 5 years before entering the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked at Union Carbide in the maintenance dept. for 32 years, retiring in 1977.
Alfred was a member and Past Commander of the American Legion, Cowel Post 151. He also served as Commander and Advisor of the Sons of the American Legion, and for many years with the Honor Guard and Rifle Squad.
He enjoyed working on his yard and garden, painting, woodworking, playing cards and Scrabble, as well as spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Jean (Bell); two daughters, Joyce Justice of Cincinnati, OH, and Cathy (Richard) McBride of Conneaut, OH; one son, Larry (Charlene) of Conneaut, OH; one step-daughter, Norajean (Gerry) Giangola of Ashtabula, OH, one step-son Norman (Kathy) Noullet of Tampa, FL; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two brothers, Walter and James Champlin of Ashtabula, OH.
Alfred was preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years, Vera Mae (Wheeler); his parents; four brothers, Milton and Martin, in infancy, and Fred and Arlin Champlin; two sisters, Pauline Hoover and Esther Champlin; one son, Terry Lee, in 1979; and one great-grandson, Terry Michael Champlin, in 1991.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2006, at the THOMPSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 345 Main St., Conneaut, Ohio, with family friend Rev. Shirley Stoops-Franz officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

BATTLEBORO, NC - - Sharon Jean Yoak, age 60, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2006.
She was born May 12, 1946 in Bedford,Ohio, the daughter of the late Ralph Oscar Wyatt, and Norma Jean Riley.
Sharon graduated with her RN degree in 1998 from Nash Community College. She worked as a registered nurse at Nash General Hospital for five years.
She was a member of Rocky Mount Church of Nazarene.
Sharon leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, of thirty years, Charles Yoak of the home; two sons, Doug Snyder and wife Gina of Sulphur Springs, TX, David Snyder and wife Deena of Monongahela, PA; one sister, Judy Bland of Kellogsville, OH; one brother, Okey Bland, Jr. of Conneaut, OH; three grandchildren, Joshua, Catlin, Allison Snyder; honorary grandsons, Steven, Michael, Travis Collier; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Bonnie Collier, and Dawn Snyder; one brother, David Bland; one sister, Pat McKinley; and her step-father, Okey Bland, Sr.

CONNEAUT - - Kathryn S. Gibson, age 91, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Friday, October 20, 2006, at The Villa at the Lake.
She was born December 14, 1914, in Conneaut, and was the daughter of Raymond F. and Margaret (Witmire) Stoneman.
Kitty had worked as the treasurer for the City of Conneaut, for the Public Utilities Company in Conneaut, and at one time worked in Real Estate.
She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, the historical society, and the Order of Eastern Star Rose Chapter.
Kitty enjoyed golfing, cooking, and playing bridge with her close friends. She also loved Lake Erie, and traveling, especially to Florida.
Survivors include her two nephews, Raymond "Bud" Smith, and Dale (Virginia) Smith, all of Florida; many great nieces and great nephews; her dear friend Karen Warren of Conneaut; and many close friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John R. Gibson; her sister LaVera Smith; and her nephew Gordon Smith.

CONNEAUT - Paul A. Rustic, age 61, of Conneaut, died Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at his home.

He was born November 18, 1944, in Conneaut, the son of Leonard S. and Vera E. (Schuessler) Rustic.

Paul had sailed on the Great Lakes for a year before joining the National Guard. He later was employed as a maintenance mechanic for Linchem, retiring in 1991. He had also worked as a maintenance mechanic for PNS Maintenance and General Tire and Rubber Company for 18 years.

His heart had always been with being a volunteer fireman. Paul was assistant chief for Station 4 from 1982 until retiring in 1991. He was a member of Station 4, and West Lakeville Hose Boosters since 1964, and was a utility fireman for the City of Conneaut for two years.

Paul enjoyed gambling, traveling (especially on cruises), bowling, watching his son play slow-pitch, and he had a wonderful sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnne "Jody" (Shuster), whom he married May 10, 1975; his son, Leonard J. "Lenny" Rustic and his girlfriend, Kristie Vargo, of Geneva; his sisters, Joan Glogoski of Ocala, FL, and Leah S. Clark of Tanner, AL; two nieces, Paula Hess of Lawrenceville, GA, and Karin Brady of Dacula, GA; his nephew Andrew Glogoski of Ocala, FL; and other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his half sister, Phyllis Lockwood.

Pierpont - Neoma Marcy-Ziegler, age 84, a long-term resident of Pierpont, Ohio, was called upon to be with her Lord on the evening of Tuesday, October 24, 2006.

She was born January 3, 1922, in Beaver Center, Pennsylvania, the daughter of George and Nellie (Everdon) Cornell.

Neoma was employed by Reliance and worked as a stater winder for over 30 years.

She was an active member of the Pierpont Presbyterian Church, where she participated in Bible Study, Martha’s Circle, and the Deacons.

In Neoma’s leisure time, she loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, family vacations to Myrtle Beach and to Florida. She also took great pride in her flower gardens.

Survivors include her sons, Dave (Joyce) Marcy of Pierpont, Keith (Marilyn) Marcy of Austinburg, Calvin Marcy of Pierpont, and stepdaughter Becky (James) Fuller of South Polo, AK; brother, Wally Cornell of Meadville, PA, and a sister, Thora (Russ) Schepis of Osteen, FL; grandchildren, Bryan, Jeff (Fern), Greg, Janeen, Danielle, Chris, Holly (Brian), Kevin, Sharon (Nick), and Sandy (Joe); as well as several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Neoma was preceded in death by her late husbands, Clarence Marcy, in 1983, and Bill Ziegler, in 1999; sons, Gene Marcy, in 2006, and infant son, Larry; sisters, Winifred Ziegler and Wilma North.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2006, at the Pierpont Presbyterian Church, 71 State Route 7 in Pierpont, Ohio, and Pastor Ed Diehl will officiate. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Pierpont.

GERALD G. "JERRY" BOZARD
CONNEAUT - Gerald G. "Jerry" Bozard, age 57, of Conneaut, died Wednesday, October 25, 2006, at University Hospital in Cleveland, after battling cancer for several years.

He was born October 14, 1949, the son of Gaylord A. and Dagmar (Antin) Bozard of Conneaut.

Jerry was a lifelong resident of Conneaut and was employed as a lab technician for Lubrizol Chemical. He had worked in various chemical plants around the area.

He enjoyed running, which he did everyday, including running a race in Bermuda, and the Revco races in Cleveland. He also enjoyed music and watching sports.

Survivors include his parents; two sisters, Carol Sheppard of Gadsden, AL, and Diana McGhram of Longview, WA; two nieces; and three nephews.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents.

Funeral Service will be 4 p.m., Monday, October 30, 2006, at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St. Conneaut, with the Reverend Franklin Gore of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville, OH.

KINGSVILLE - - Deborah Ann Petro, age 49, a resident of Kingsville Township, died Thursday, October 26, 2006, as the result of a traffic accident.
She was born November 18, 1956, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Ralph and Deloris (Hale) Mauro.
Deborah was a graduate of Edgewood High School, class of 1975, and the Knuedler School of Practical Nursing.
She was recently employed with Grand Valley Country Manor and had previously worked at Carington Park in Ashtabula.
Her enjoyment came from her grandchildren, and her three dogs, Jordan, Jasmine, and Juno.
Survivors include her son, Ryan C. Petro, his wife, Michelle, and their daughter, Kierstin, of Ashtabula; daughter, Jade Wood; husband Marc and their son, Marc the II; former husband, Vince Petro of Lakewood, Ohio; mother DeLoris Mauro, and sister, Sherry Scott, both of Melbourne, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Mauro.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, November 2, 2006, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

REBECCA L. BRZECZEK

HELENA, OH - - Rebecca L. Brzeczek, 54, of Helena, Ohio, died Sunday, October 29, 2006, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.  
She was born on April 15, 1952, in Blackhills, SD, the daughter of Jack Paul and Doris Jane (Patton) Bales.
Rebecca was a 1970 graduate of Conneaut High School and attended Kent State, majoring in Education.
On September 18, 1971, she married George Brzeczek at the First United Methodist Church in Conneaut, and he survives.  
Rebecca was a librarian for the Birchard Public Library at the Gibsonburg and Woodville branches.  
She was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed reading, pets, beading, and being a Veterinary Assistant at Country Squire Animal Hospital in Oregon. Rebecca also enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her children, Cheryl (Paul) Ward of Woodville, Lori (John) Harlach of Gibsonburg, and Mike (Brandy) Brzeczek of Woodville; and grandchildren, Libby, Jackie Harlach, Mikey and Bryce Brzeczek.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Jackie Bales, and her mother.
Services will be on 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Faith United Methodist Church with one hour of visitation prior to the services. Reverend Jerel Jackson will officiate. Burial will be at West Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today at the HERMAN-KINN-VEH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, Gibsonburg, Ohio.
