ZEPHYR GILBERT ROSE TAGLE
ERIE, PA – Zephyr Gilbert Rose Tagle, 25, of Lakeview Avenue, Conneaut
died April 29, 2004 at Hamot Medical Center from injuries sustained in an
automobile accident.
He was born January 9, 1979 in Conneaut, the son of Gilbert and Denise
(Rose) Tagle and had been a lifelong area resident.
He worked as a welder for Worthington Cylinders and enjoyed spending time with
his son, music, hunting, and video games.
His survivors include his son, Zephyr G. Tagle; one brother, Thatcher E. Tagle
of Conneaut; his parents; and his paternal grandmother, Soledad C. Tagle
of Conneaut.
He was preceded by his paternal grandfather, Edilberto Tagle; and maternal
grandparents, Earl and Catherine Rose.
At this time, no services or calling hours will be held.

CARMEN C. (PUDGE) COPPOLA
CONNEAUT — CARMEN C. (PUDGE) COPPOLA, age 74 of Conneaut, died Saturday,
May 1, 2004 at the University Hospitals in Cleveland.
Mr. Coppola was born August 16, 1929 in Conneaut the son of Andrew and
Emma (Chiarulli) Coppola. He was a 1947 graduate of Conneaut High School and
enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1948. Following an honorable
discharge in 1952, he went on to work at the former Nickel Plate Railroad as a
machinist. In 1957 he went to work at R.M.I. Metals Plant also as a machinist
until his retirement in 1990.
Pudge was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Roman Catholic Church, a life member
of the East Ashtabula Club, the Veterans of Foreign War, the Conneaut
Moose Club and the Conneaut American Legion Cowle Post 151. He also
enjoyed golf and bowling and years ago playing croquet at the Dean Avenue school
grounds with his friends. Pudge loved to play cards with his friends and
spending time with his family, friends and his special grandson, J.R.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Christopher in 2001; and his
family dog, Major.
Mr. Coppola is survived by his wife, Amy Simone, whom he married September 30,
1957 at St. Frances Cabrini Roman Catholic Church; two daughters, Kim (and Jim)
Jury and Debra Coppola, all of Conneaut; and grandson J.R. Jury.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2004
at St. Frances Cabrini Church, Conneaut with Father Raymond Thomas officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Conneaut, with the American
Legion Honor Squadron conducting full military rites.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the
RAISIAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Frances Cabrini Church Capital

BAYTOWN, TX — Joretta S. Allds, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister,
passed away Sunday, May 2, 2004, in Baytown, Texas.
She was born to Henry and Mildred Schweinsberg on Oct. 12, 1934, in Morgantown,
West Virginia.
A lover of animals, Joretta also enjoyed music, traveling and her country home.
She is lovingly survived by her husband of 29 years, Thomas R. Allds; children,
Kimberly H. Cwalinski and husband, Stanley, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Robert Daniel
Hudson of Hollywood, FL; grandsons, Robert C. and Thomas S. Cwalinski; brother,
Jon Schweinsberg and wife, Darlene, of Long Beach, MI.
The family will receive friends at 1 p.m., and funeral services will begin at 2
p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth

RICHARD R. MCLAUGHLIN
STEWARTSTOWN, PA — Former Conneaut, OH, resident Richard R. McLaughlin,
77, died April 25, 2004, in Stewartstown, PA.
He was born September 2, 1926, in Conneaut, OH, and was the son of J.
Ralph and Eleanor (Altier) McLaughlin. A 1944 Conneaut High School
graduate, he also graduated from Case Western University.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict, and
retired from the Navy Reserves as a Lt. Commander with 26 years of service. He
was an electrical engineer and worked for Boeing Aircraft and IBM Corporation,
retiring in 1987.
While in Conneaut, Mr. McLaughlin was an active member of First United
Methodist Church, American Legion Cowle Post #151, the Conneaut Yacht
Club and was a life member of the Amboy Rifle Club. He also served as an
ombudsman and was a member of the Conneaut City Charter Commission.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing, sailing his boat, and traveling with
his late wife, Maria.
Survivors include two daughters, Catherine Fiximer and Christine Balesteri, both
of Stewartstown, PA; a son, John McLaughlin of Manassas Park, VA; his brother,
Robert McLaughlin of Conneaut, OH; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Ellen Scott; and his
wife, Maria (McIlroy) McLaughlin.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2004, at the MARCY
FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty Street, Conneaut, OH, with
the Reverend Charles Graham, pastor of First United Methodist Church,
officiating.

ALBERT J. JOHNSON JR.
CONNEAUT — Albert J. Johnson Jr., 61, of Conneaut, OH, died Monday
afternoon, May 3, 2004, in Conneaut, following a cerebral hemorrhage he
suffered on February 17.
He was born November 8, 1942, in Conneaut, OH, and was the son of
Kathleen V. (Lane) Johnson and the late Albert Johnson Sr. A lifelong
Conneaut resident, he graduated in 1960 from Rowe High School and, in 1973,
from Gannon University with a B.S. in Accounting.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and was employed as an accountant and
survey assistant at Millennium Chemicals, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Conneaut, the Conneaut
Historical Society, Western Reserve Historical Society, the Ashtabula County
Historical Society, the Grand River Partnership, and was active in the Friends
of Conneaut Creek. He was also a former member of the Conneaut
City Planning Commission and the Conneaut Board of Health.
He enjoyed collecting anything to do with Conneaut.
Survivors include his mother, of Conneaut, OH; his son, Alan J. (Dana) Johnson
of Atlanta, GA; stepdaughters, Elizabeth Henry, Kathryn Belknap and Victoria
(David) DeGeorge, all of Ashtabula, OH; two sisters, Sharon (Earl) Karr of
Conneaut, OH, and Irene Johnson of Woodbridge, VA; and grandchildren, Angela
and Anthony DeGeorge and Rosemary Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Johnson Sr., on March 24, 2004;
and a sister, Rachel Dixon, on March 16, 1997.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 7, 2004, at the MARCY FUNERAL
HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty Street, Conneaut, OH, with the
Reverend Kenneth Roberts, of the Pentecostal Church of God, officiating,

KINGSVILLE TOWNSHIP — E. Alice Rushton, 90, a resident of Kingsville
Township, died at her home on Wednesday, May 5, 2004.
Born May 25, 1913, in Plymouth Township, OH, she was the daughter of Lucius and
Glendora (Stevenson) Hodges.
She graduated from Ashtabula High School, was a former Zontian, and a member of
the Kingsville Area Dandy Lions.
From 1943 to 1963, she worked for the Kingsville Post Office, retiring as
postmaster.
Survivors include her son, Willard (Joyce) Rushton of Corpus Christi, TX; a
daughter, Charlotte (Lee) Carr of Pierpont; eight grandchildren; and 15
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert; brothers, Arthur
and Wilber Hodges; and a sister, Marian Drake.
Funeral Service will be held 1 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2004, in the GUERRIERO

CONNEAUT — Martha V. Clark, 77, of Detroit Street, Conneaut, OH,
died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at the Inn-Conneaut Health Center.
Born in Grafton, WV, October 10, 1926, the daughter of the late Leland P. and
Daisy (LaRue) Rector, she had been a resident of Conneaut for over 50
years.
Mrs. Clark was a graduate of West Virginia University; she received her Master’s
Degree in Elementary Education and Library Science. In her leisure time, she
enjoyed shopping, and especially being with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn (Mike) Prickett of Ashtabula; two sons,
Larry (Sherry) and John Clark, both of Conneaut; two grandchildren, Larry
(Allyson) Clark and Amy Clark, both of Conneaut; two great-grandchildren,
Samantha and Hannah Clark; and a sister, Jean Hanson of Indianapolis, IN.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Clark.
Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2004, at the

She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandfather, Onni Haapanen; her

NEW LYME TWP. – Eva M. Gaines,
86, of Brownville Rd., died Friday, May 2, 2004 at her daughter’s home.
Born Jan. 8, 1918 in Elyria, Ohio, she was the daughter of Elmer and Lillian (VanHee)
Craft. She had been an area resident all of her life.
She belonged to the New Lyme Baptist Church for the last two years. Prior to
that she was a member of the Presbyterian Church in New Lyme for forty-plus
years.
She enjoyed selling plants with her husband out of their greenhouse, cooking,
gardening, and her family.
Survivors include four children: son, David L. (Rose) Gaines, Sr. of Ashtabula;
three daughters, Beverly A. Emerson of New Lyme, Shirley J. (Ike) Humphrey of
Cherry Valley, and Sally (Richard) Roth of New Lyme; ten grandchildren;
twenty-one great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; two
brothers, Glenn of Conneaut, and Kenneth of Tampa, FL.
Mrs. Gaines was preceded in death by: her husband, Lawrence in 1985; grandsons,
Ricky Humphrey and Alan Emerson; a sister Bessie Reardon; and her parents.
A service will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at 11 a.m. at New Lyme Baptist
Church, 1280 Dodgeville Road with Rev. William Aiken officiating.

morning, May 10, 2004, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital.
A lifelong Conneaut resident, she was born May 8, 1947, in Conneaut
to the late John Q. and Dorothy (Blackwood) Snyder.
Mrs. Watson was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, yard sales, baking, camping
and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Watson, whom she married May 14, 1966;
three daughters, Teresa M. (George) Hall, Rhonda M. Watson and Tracy L. (Milton)
Miller, all of Conneaut, OH; her sister, Judy K. (Carl) Westerburg of
Conneaut, OH; three brothers, Charles Snyder, George M. (Kim) Snyder and
Jack W. (Roxanne) Snyder, all of Conneaut; three grandchildren, Laressia,
Josh, and Robert Headley; and three step-grandchildren, Nicole Snyder, Shane
Miller and Christopher Miller; 24 nieces and nephews; three step-nieces and
nephews; and 39 great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant brother, Dalton Snyder.

A Conneaut resident since 2000, she was a homemaker and Christian Science
practitioner; and enjoyed traveling, gardening, and keeping house.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth H. Vaughn of Conneaut, OH; three
sisters, Betty Gulledge and Juanita Glass, both of Akron, OH, and Audrey Pittman
of St. Petersburg, FL; and two grandchildren, Lydia Rachel Potter and LuAnne
Waha.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Sam Dailey; her
husband, Harold B. Vaughn; her sister, Doreen Juilleratt; and her brother,
Walter “Bud” Bennington.

CONNEAUT — Ethel L. Adams, 95, of Conneaut, OH, died Wednesday,
May 12, 2004, at the Austinburg Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Austinburg,
OH.
She was born April 28, 1909, in Oneonta, AL, and was a daughter of the late
William and Laura (Robbins) Hill.
Mrs. Adams was a homemaker and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Altoona,
AL.
She enjoyed her family and crocheting special gifts for everyone she knew.
She is survived by four sons, Billie (Doris) Adams of Conneaut, OH, Hoyt
Adams of Oneonta, AL, Jimmy (Judy) Adams of Rockwood, MI, and Lynn (Linda) Adams
of Bylalia, MS; a daughter, Barbara (Bev) Morton of Hazelhurst, GA; two sisters,
Willie Pearl Payne and Willie Fay Mabley, both of Oneonta, AL; her brother,
Franklin Hill of Oneonta, AL; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and
three great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aldie Eugene
Adams; a daughter, Geraldine Smith; a son, Marvin Amos Adams; a granddaughter,
Juanna Kay Smith; and four brothers, Vester, David, Amos and Ujester Hill.

WALTER J. PRATT
CONNEAUT — Former Conneaut, OH, resident Commander (Retired)
Walter J. Pratt, SC, USN, 58, died accidentally Sunday, May 9, 2004, in Moab,
UT.
He was born August 29, 1945, in Lake Charles, LA, and was a son of Roy B. Pratt
Sr. and Marjorie (Switzer) Hampton.
A 1963 graduate of Rowe High School, he attended Southern Mississippi
University. He enlisted in the Navy in 1963, attended Submarine School, and
served on various submarine tours during the Vietnam War. Following his
retirement from the Navy, he was employed as a consultant by CACI Field Services
Inc., from 1988–1993.
Walt was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hiking, and boating. He traveled
around the globe with the Navy, and throughout North America, from Mexico to
Alaska, traveling in his RV. He loved the Southwest and had become deeply
engaged in exploring, documenting, and preserving early American Indian ruins.
He was an animal lover and shared many happy years with his trusty canine
companions, Chewie and Louie.
He spoke openly and passionately about his personal challenges with alcohol and
tobacco, which he overcame, and helped many others to find their paths to
sobriety.
Survivors include his beloved daughter, Stacey Pratt Phillips of Cherry Valley,
MA; father, Roy B. Pratt Sr. and wife, Bertha, of Conneaut, OH; his
mother, Marjorie Hampton of Conneaut, OH; his brother, Roy B. Pratt Jr.
and wife, Dixie, of Conneaut, OH; two sisters, Robin L. Whitely and
husband, Jim, of Short Hills, NJ, and Rebecca Priest of Canton, OH; and six
nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Pratt, Christine Young, Christopher Whitely, Ashley
Priest, Jeremy Priest and Josh Priest.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2004, at the MARCY

LULA M. ELLIS
ASHTABULA — Lula Mac Ellis, age 82, of Baraboo, WI, and formerly of Ashtabula,
died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Maplewood Nursing Home in Baraboo.
Born in New Goshen, IN, she was a daughter of the late Walter James and Martha
Jane (Cook) Kinley. Mrs. Ellis was a former resident of Ashtabula, living here
for over 19 years.
She was a dedicated homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Lee Burgess of Alabama, and Linda Conley
of Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde Ellis; a daughter,
Brenda Capozzi; several brothers and sisters; two granddaughters; and one
great-grandson.

CONNEAUT — Mary S. Chirakos, 75, of Conneaut, OH, died Friday
morning, May 14, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital. She was born November 9, 1928,
in Youngstown, OH, and was a daughter of Sam and Titika (Voyagis) Mastorides.
Mrs. Chirakos graduated from high school in Youngstown and studied nutrition at
Western Reserve University and Baldwin Wallace College. A Conneaut
resident since 1970, she was a member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in
Erie, PA, and also attended the Conneaut First Assembly of God and the
Conneaut Church of God. Mrs. Chirakos enjoyed creating porcelain art and
china painting. She was a member of the International China Painters Society and
the China Painters Guild of Erie. She also enjoyed flower gardening and
Grafting, She was a Biblical scholar and enjoyed reading the Bible and
participating in women's ministry and counseling.
Survivors include her husband Robert A. Chirakos of Conneaut whom she
married June 11, 1950; twin sons Sam R. (Lori) and Tony R. (Catherine) all of
Dublin, OH; her daughter Sylvia (Scott) Chirakos-Dorsey of Sidney. OH; her
sister Ann (Lou) Sinopoulos of Deerfield Beach, FL; and six grandchildren, Chris
and David Dorsey, Lexi and Ana Chirakos, and Yanni and Dimitri Chirakos.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Nick Masters.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, May 18, at the Assumption Greek
Orthodox Church, 4376 W. Lake Rd. in Erie, PA, with the Rev. Theofanis Nacopolus
officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Conneaut, OH.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 PM, Monday, at the Marcy Funeral Home and
Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St, Conneaut, OH. Trisagio Service will be

KINGSVILLE — George Campbell Russell Jr., 80, beloved husband and best
friend of Margaret (Bucci) Russell, of Terry Lane, died Saturday, May 15, 2004,
at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born February 22, 1924 in Euclid, OH, the son of George C. and Mary
(Reams) Russell and had been a Kingsville resident for the past 6 years, moving
from Euclid.
A graduate of Euclid High School, he owned and operated Cuy-La Nursing Home in
Euclid prior to his retirement. He also served as an Auxiliary Police Officer
for the City of Euclid.
Mr. Russell was a 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite, past Master of Willoughby
Lodge #302 F. & A.M. in 1964, and a Knight of the York Cross of Honor.
A Veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II as a medic.
He enjoyed playing cards (especially crib); golfing; following the Cleveland
Browns and Indians; visiting with his in-laws, Sam and Louise and Albert and
Donna Bucci, and his neighbor, Dave Dinger, who was a great help to him. He
loved to feed and watch any animals that would visit his back yard.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret L. (Bucci), whom he married October 2,
1976; two children, George Campbell Russell III of Indianapolis, IN and Vickie
Wright of Columbus; one step-daughter, Jan Moon of Ashtabula; six grandchildren,
Michael, Heather, Sarah, Jason, Troy and his special angel, Shari: and one
great-grandson, Justin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Service will be held 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at the ZABACK-DUCRO

CONNEAUT — Arthur Bowers, age 93, of Harbor Street, Conneaut, OH,
died Monday, May 17, 2004, at the home of his son on Carl Street.
Born in Albion, PA on January 17, 1911, the son of the late Charles and Mazie
(Kinney) Bowers, he had resided in Conneaut most of his life.
Mr. Bowers was employed with Allied Resinous in the Shipping Department until he
retired.
He was a member of the West Springfield Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
In his younger years, he enjoyed riding motor cycles.
Survivors include two daughters, Darlene Braden of Conneaut and Irene
Fedor of West Springfield, PA; three sons, Arthur and Jimmie, both of
Conneaut and David of Vancouver, WA; 18 grandchildren; 32
great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Ferguson of New Mexico; and three
brothers, Donald and Charles, both of Conneaut and Billy of Sheffield,
OH.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel; a daughter,
Shirley in infancy; two sisters, Dorothy and Matilda; and a brother, Harold

Fred and Era Hatch.
Mrs. Kissman was a hairdresser for 50 years; and was a past member of the
Eastern Star Palms Lodge of Southern California.
Surviving Mrs. Kissman are numerous nieces and nephews.

ASHTABULA — Helen Louise Scott, age 84, of Ashtabula, died Thursday morning, May
20, 2004, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born October 11, 1919 in Ashtabula, OH, she was the daughter of the late Edward
and Sophia (Mantyla) Hakala and was a lifelong resident of Ashtabula. On August
8, 1944, she married Donald Joseph Scott in Ashtabula, OH.
Mrs. Scott was a teacher, teaching Physical Education at Fenn College in
Cleveland, OH and at Columbus Jr. High School, Ashtabula, retiring in 1970.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Ashtabula and enjoyed knitting,
crossword puzzles, bingo, cross stitching, bicycling 10 miles a day through the
Harbor with her family, Bible study, and volunteering at the Food Pantry at
Faith Lutheran. Mrs. Scott also enjoyed wintering in Sebring, FL.
Survivors include her husband of over 59 years, Donald Joseph Scott; son, Donald
Edward (wife Debbie) of Baltimore, MD; daughter, Suzanne C. Nelson (husband
Jeffrey) of Ashtabula; grandchildren, Stacey and Larry Tackett of Ashtabula,
Justin Nelson (wife Megan) of Strongsville and Nicholas and Sam Scott of
Baltimore, MD; and great-grandchildren, Colton Tackett of Ashtabula and Ryan

a short time.
Molly was born November 29, 1916, the daughter of Joseph and Helen Panasset.
She attended West Springfield School and was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic
Church in Conneaut.
Molly used to sell many vegetables with her family at the local Farmers Market
for years.
She was a member of the Conneaut Garden Club and a past member of the
TOPS Club.
Molly is survived by one son, Karl Mackey of West Springfield, PA; and a
grandson, Timothy Mackey of Beaumont, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sulo Mackey (1989); a sister,

CONNEAUT — Lloyd J. Hicks, age 82, of West Springfield, PA, died Monday
evening, May 24, 2004, at Inn-Conneaut Health Center, Conneaut,
OH.
He was born December 29, 1921, in Conneaut, OH, and was a son of Jay and
Grace (Rose) Hicks.
Mr. Hicks was a World War II Veteran, serving as a paratrooper with the 101st
Airborne. He was engaged in battle in the Battle of Bastogne and was awarded the
Purple Heart.
He was employed as General Foreman at The Pittsburgh & Conneaut Dock
Company for 35 years, retiring in 1982.
He enjoyed his family, gardening, hunting, spending time at their mountain home,
and playing cards. He thoroughly enjoyed life.
Survivors include his wife, Helen (Puffer) Hicks; five daughters, Cheryl
(Harold) Deemer of Warren, OH , Cecelia (Edgar) Erdman of Wellsburg, WV, Cynthia

Kaydo. She has lived in Ashtabula for the past 59 years, moving from Uniontown,

She belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ashtabula. Marie owned and
operated Marie’s Tasty Lunch on Main Avenue for six years before retiring in
1976.
She enjoyed cooking; playing cards; a women’s group “The Club”; going to the
racetrack; and spending time with her kids, family and friends.
Survivors include four children: a son, Scott W. of Ashtabula; three daughters,
Yvonne M. Tellep of Ashtabula, Deirdre J. Lampela of Sheffield Township and
Paula Moore of Ashtabula; two grandchildren, Brittany and Tanner W. Breedlove;

ELLEN M. CHIARELLI
CONNEAUT — Ellen Mae Chiarelli, age 75, of Conneaut, OH, died
early Friday morning, May 28, 2004, at her residence.
Mrs. Chiarelli was born July 12, 1928 in Conneaut, OH, the daughter of
William and Mae (Giles) Onion. She attended Conneaut High and later went
to work for the Nickle Plate Railroad.
She met and married her late husband, Raleigh Chiarelli, and they were the
owner-operators of the former Red-Star Bus Station and Cab Company in downtown
Conneaut. In 1970 Ellen went to work for the Conneaut school
system and worked her way up to become the Food Service Manager for Conneaut
Area Schools. She retired in 2000 after 30 years of service.
Ellen loved her grandchildren, reading and working. She also enjoyed her roses;
loved to cook for her family; and computing. Ellen used to travel to Casino's
with her husband and was also a member St. Frances Cabrini Roman Catholic Church
and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raleigh Chiarelli
(1999); and an infant brother, Billy Onion.
She is survived by two sons, William and Kathy Chiarelli and Raleigh Jr. and
Karen Chiarelli; one daughter, Elizabeth Chiarelli, all of Conneaut; four
grandchildren, William Chiarelli of Conneaut, Nicole Chiarelli of San
Diego, CA, Michael Chiarelli of Conneaut and Raleigh Chiarelli III of
Ashtabula; two brothers, Richard Onion of Gloverville, NY and Michael (Micky)
Onion of Belton, SC; sister, Mary Hosack of Conneautville, PA; and an aunt,
Shirley Hill of Madison, OH.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at 10 a.m. at
St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Conneaut, OH, with Fr. Raymond
Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Conneaut.
Calling Hours will be Monday, May 31, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at
the RAISIAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut. The
Catholic Daughters of America will gather for prayer services Monday at 3 p.m.

KINGSVILLE – George William “Hank” DuFour, III, 50, of Arbor Drive, died
unexpectedly Wednesday, May 26, 2004. A Service will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday,
June 1, 2004, at the First Baptist Church, 6003 State Route 193, Kingsville.
Reverend David Hines, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Lulu Falls
Cemetery, Kingsville. Calling Hours will be at the Church on Monday, May 31,

ANGEL M. WIGREN
ASHTABULA — Angel Marie Wigren, age 33, of West 8th Street, Ashtabula, OH, died
Wednesday, May 26, 2004, in Ashtabula.
She was born October 12, 1070 in Ashtabula, OH, the daughter of Theodore and
Virginia A. (Ruot) Wigren and has been a lifetime area resident.
Surviving her is her mother, Virginia (Joseph) Ruot Knox of Ashtabula; her
father, Theodore Wigren of Missouri; four sons, Eric Fortune, Joseph Kangas,
Calvin Kangas and Marc McElroy, all of Ashtabula; maternal grandmother, Florence
Wolf of Ashtabula; paternal grandmother, Sophie Krish of Branson, MO; three
brothers, Larry Lane-Ruot of Ashtabula, Lonny Wigren of Superior, WI and Ron
Wigren of Duluth, MN; and a sister, Amy Marshall of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Danielle Fortune.
Private Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Eastlake Cemetery in North Kingsville.
The family requests that no flowers be sent.

PATRICIA J. BRADLER
KINGSVILLE – Patricia J. “Patsy” Bradler, 84, died Wednesday, May 26,
2004 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
She was born November 26, 1919 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of
Clayton A. and Arlene G. (Chapman) Perry and had been an Ashtabula resident most
of her life.
Mrs. Bradler was a member of St. Joseph Church, belonged to the St. Joseph’s
Guild and Catholic Daughters of America, V.F.W. Post 943 Auxiliary for forty
years, and along with her husband, was a 50 year member of the Sheffield Grange.
She enjoyed reading and formerly served as a Gray Lady for Ashtabula General
Hospital.
Her survivors include one son, William D. Bradler of Ashtabula; three
grandchildren, Deanna J. Perdue, Thomas W. Bradler, and William W. Bradler;
seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. on December 7, 1998; one
daughter, Susan Bradler in infancy; two sisters, Nancy Rebmann and Jane Hillier;
one brother, Byron C. Perry; her step-father, Lucius “Lew” Olin, who helped
raise her; and her parents.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday June 1, 2004 at 10:00 A.M.at the St
Joseph Cemetery Chapel, in Ashtabula. The Rev. Fr. Philip Miller, Pastor of St.
Joseph Church, will preside. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashtabula.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ashtabula Regional
Cancer Center, 2412 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio. Envelopes will be available at
the cemetery chapel.

GEORGE W. DUFOUR
KINGSVILLE – George William “Hank” DuFour, III, 50, of Arbor Drive, died
unexpectedly Wednesday, May 26, 2004.
He was born August 19, 1953 in Rock Lick, WV, the son of George W., Jr. and
Elsie (Kessler) DuFour and had been a Kingsville resident most of his life.
A 1972 graduate of Edgewood High School, he earned his Associates Degree from
Kent State University, Ashtabula Campus.
Mr. DuFour worked as a manager for Venture Industries, Conneaut, OH.
He belonged to the Order of the Arrow and served as Scout Master and Assistant
Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop #11, Kingsville, OH.
A member of Kingsville Baptist Church, where he was baptized with his
family, he served as a head usher; Chairman of the Deacon Board; a member of the
Board of Trustees; and as a substitute Sunday School teacher.
Hank coached T-ball; Little League Baseball and Softball; Flag Football in
Kingsville; and enjoyed camping, fishing, backpacking, hiking, and spending time
with his family.
His survivors include his wife, Cathy J. (Mead), whom he married July 20, 1974;
two children, Mark R. and Megan R. DuFour, both of Kingsville; his
parents, George and Elsie DuFour, Jr. of Kingsville; one brother, Jerry (Janice)
DuFour of North Kingsville; one sister, Susan (Steve) Tharp of
Conneaut; nieces, Ashley and Mackenzie Tharp and Erica (Aaron) Esposito;
nephews, Jason DuFour, Kevin and Scott Bednarik; great-niece, Arryon Esposito;
his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Joanne Mead of Conneaut;
brother-in-law, Jay Mead of Norfolk, VA; and sister-in-law, Linda (Bill)
Bednarik of Leroy Township.

BERTHA E. HORVATH
Bertha E. (Tuci) Horvath, 79, of Harbor Street, Conneaut, died Saturday,
May 29, 2004, in UHHS-Brown Memorial hospital, Conneaut.
Born in Cleveland, February 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Steve and
Bertha (Nyilas) Horvath, and had resided in this area for most of her life. She
was employed at General Electric Base Plant in Conneaut and retired as
Executive Secretary of RMI in Ashtabula after 30 years of service.
Miss Horvath was a member of the Hungarian Evangelical Reformed United Church of
Christ and the Rose Chapter Order of Eastern Star #22. She wintered in Florida,
enjoyed bus trips and animals, especially Lexi, her Pomeranian. She had a very
special love for her great niece, Anna Lynn.
Survivors include her brother, Steven E. Horvath; a nephew, Steven Horvath, a
niece, Susanne Horvath and great-niece Anna Lynn Horvath-DeFillipo, all of
Conneaut. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at the
Hungarian Evangelical Reformed Church, 795 Mill Street, Conneaut, with
the Rev. Robert Leonard, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in
Glennwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345
Main Street, Conneaut, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
